Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated and hands-on Automation Technician for a temp-to-perm opportunity. The Automation Technician will support the operation, setup, troubleshooting, maintenance, and improvement of computer-controlled systems, automated manufacturing equipment, and robotic systems.

The ideal candidate is mechanically and electrically inclined, enjoys troubleshooting equipment, and is eager to develop their technical skills in a regulated manufacturing environment. This position will work closely with Engineering, Maintenance, and Manufacturing to maximize equipment reliability, efficiency, and production output.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist Engineering and Maintenance in identifying, analyzing, and correcting manufacturing equipment and process issues.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot manufacturing equipment, including automated production and packaging lines.
  • Operate automation and packaging equipment as needed to meet manufacturing schedules.
  • Perform machine setup and changeovers in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), including leak testing when applicable.
  • Perform equipment updates, repairs, adjustments, and modifications.
  • Remove, replace, align, adjust, and make necessary mechanical corrections to equipment in a timely manner.
  • Perform basic mechanical and electrical repairs on manufacturing equipment.
  • Provide technical support to resolve automation and machinery issues.
  • Apply mechanical and electrical skills to troubleshoot and resolve challenges in an automation and controls manufacturing environment.
  • Identify and recommend engineering, maintenance, and process improvements to increase efficiency and equipment reliability.
  • Assist with the selection, development, and testing of tools, fixtures, machinery, and equipment designed to improve manufacturing efficiency.
  • Support Engineering and Maintenance with projects, engineering studies, and the qualification and validation of manufacturing equipment.
  • Follow all applicable safety, quality, regulatory, and company procedures.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including equipment records, investigation reports, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Technical degree, certificate, or training from an accredited college, technical school, or vocational program preferred.
  • 0-2 years of experience in automation, manufacturing, mechanical, electrical, or related technical work preferred.
  • Experience working in a regulated manufacturing environment is a plus.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Ability to effectively work cross-functionally with Engineering, Maintenance, Manufacturing, Quality, and other departments.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written procedures and SOPs.
  • Ability to document technical information, including investigation reports and trend analysis.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, dependable, accountable, and willing to learn.
  • Strong work ethic and a team-oriented approach.
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds and stand for extended periods.
  • Flexibility to work weekends or adjusted schedules when required to meet customer demand or address severe weather or other operational needs.
