POSITION SUMMARY

The Sr. Avionic Technician performs complex inspections, tests, troubleshooting and repairs on customer returned equipment, in accordance with all rules and regulations. Assists in the creation and maintenance of repair procedures as required in support of product or process improvement initiatives.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Performs complex tests, overhaul/repairs on customer assemblies utilizing electro-mechanical skills.

  • Act as a Lead in complex inspection, testing, troubleshooting and repair of products in accordance with approved documentation.

  • High interaction with supervisors and management.

  • Performs diagnostics, teardown, repair and rebuilding of products, according to approved data and customer's requirements.

  • Proficiency in reading schematics, implementation of engineering orders, test specifications, service bulletins, customer requirements, and quality directives.

  • Actively identifies Lean initiatives by identifying and providing suggestions on areas for improvement while performing daily chores.

  • Observes all safety rules and maintains (FOD) free work areas.

  • Ensures all equipment is calibrated in accordance with calibration schedules while performing daily tasks.

  • Constant self-training is required.

  • Proficient knowledge of regulations, procedures and processes required to effectively carry out the job function.

  • Consistent and punctual attendance is required. May need to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and additional hours as necessary

  • May perform other related responsibilities according to business needs.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: HS diploma or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations.

Skills:

  • Technical/ vocational school degree is preferred.

  • 5-7 years of related experience is required.

  • Able to work independently with no supervisory guidance.

  • Demonstrate a broad and comprehensive understanding of a varied complex electronic and mechanical systems.

  • Possess extensive historical knowledge of product and process situations that are normally encountered. Able to independently overhaul/repair, test, and assemble 90% of the assigned product line.

  • Able to set up test fixtures independently.

  • Able to adapt to procedures, techniques, and/or processes to meet special needs on varied assignments.

  • Able to read and understand schematics, route sheets, and test specifications. Perform semi-complex mathematical calculations, as well as demonstrate effective verbal, written, and moderate computer skills.

  • Ability to effectively demonstrate team member competencies and participate in goal setting, performance feedback, and self-development activities.
