Make a Difference Through Fitness and Recreation

The Kroc Center is looking for outgoing and dependable Kroc Attendants who enjoy building relationships and creating positive experiences for members and guests. This position supports fitness, recreation, youth development, sports programming, special events, and the daily care of equipment and program spaces.

Depending on your assigned area, you may assist members with exercise equipment, supervise recreational activities, support teen programming, oversee the climbing wall, or prepare for classes and events.

Most importantly, you will help provide a safe, clean, and welcoming environment while supporting the mission of The Salvation Army.

Starting Pay: $12.00 per hour
Position Type: Part time, up to 19 hours per week
Schedule: Multiple shifts available

What You Will Do
General Attendant Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate equipment check-in and checkout procedures.
  • Clean and maintain assigned program areas and equipment.
  • Return equipment and materials to their proper locations.
  • Report equipment problems and needed repairs according to departmental procedures.
  • Consistently enforce safety guidelines and facility rules.
  • Assist with program, activity, class, and event preparation and cleanup.
  • Support scorekeeping and other sports or recreation activities as assigned.
  • Build positive relationships with members, guests, and coworkers.
  • Complete other job-related tasks assigned by leadership.


Fitness and Recreation Responsibilities

  • Help members understand the proper and safe use of exercise equipment.
  • Monitor fitness and exercise areas and consistently enforce facility rules.
  • Report equipment problems or needed repairs to the manager on duty.
  • Assist with recreational activities, sports programming, and special events.


Climbing Wall Responsibilities

  • Provide safety orientations for participants.
  • Supervise climbers and promote safe climbing practices.
  • Enforce climbing wall rules consistently.
  • Oversee the climbing wall during assigned operating hours.
  • Follow all applicable safety rules and procedures.


Teen Zone Responsibilities

  • Supervise and engage teens in the Zone Activity Room.
  • Help maintain a safe, positive, and welcoming environment.
  • Check members in and out as they enter and leave the Teen Zone.
  • Assist with youth development programs and recreational activities.
  • Check video games, controllers, board games, puzzles, and other materials in and out.
  • Clean and organize tables, countertops, equipment, and activity areas.

Background Check

This position requires a background check. All background check results will be reviewed.


Required Training

The successful candidate must complete Safe From Harm training within the first 30 days of employment.


Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to speak, write, and understand English sufficiently for effective communication with leadership, field personnel, members, guests, and other clientele.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Friendly, outgoing, and comfortable interacting with people of different ages and backgrounds.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft products and the ability to learn electronic reporting systems.
  • Ability to consistently follow and enforce safety rules and procedures.


Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Physical requirements include:



  • Good speaking, hearing, and vision abilities.
  • Excellent manual dexterity.
  • Ability to lift, pull, and push materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, squat, and walk as needed.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.


Working Conditions

Work is performed at the Kroc Center. Weekend and evening work may be required depending on the assigned shift, programs, and special events.
