Job Objective:

Works with Finance and Accounting, Asset Teams, and the Information Technology Department to understand SAP platform, infrastructure, and security needs; administers and supports SAP BASIS and SAP Security functions; and delivers projects that align SAP technology with business strategy. This role helps ensure that SAP systems operate reliably, securely, and efficiently while meeting business requirements. The position also analyzes, documents, and supports enhancement, patching, upgrade, access, and security-related initiatives across the SAP landscape.

This role provides senior-level technical ownership for SAP BASIS administration, SAP Security administration, system reliability, access controls, change management, and SAP infrastructure support. The position works across IT, Finance and Accounting, Asset Teams, business stakeholders, and vendors to ensure SAP systems remain secure, available, well-controlled, and aligned with business needs.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Designs, implements, integrates, and supports SAP BASIS and Security solutions with minimal guidance, using strong SAP BASIS and Security skills and a solid understanding of SAP infrastructure.
  • Collaborates with IT, business stakeholders, and external vendors to design, support, and maintain SAP system architecture, security roles, authorizations, and integrations that meet company requirements.
  • Troubleshoots SAP and third-party software issues by working with SAP support, application vendors, developers, and internal stakeholders to identify root causes and implement remedies.
  • Improves existing programs by reviewing objectives and specifications, evaluating proposed changes, recommending enhancements, and making approved modifications.
  • Serves as the project technical lead for system refresh, patch, and upgrade projects.
  • Instrumental in the migration process from test to production using CHARM and TSM
  • Leads the Change Control Board by managing expectations, requiring complete documentation, and ensuring adherence to company change management policies.
  • Administers SAP security roles, profiles, authorizations, user access, and related controls in alignment with company policies, segregation of duties requirements, and audit expectations.
  • Monitors SAP system health, performance, availability, background jobs, interfaces, transports, and related infrastructure components; coordinates issue resolution to minimize business disruption.
  • Adheres to the company's values - integrity, ownership, urgency, alignment, and innovation.

  • Adheres to established work schedule, attendance standards and is punctual to work and meetings.

Qualifications:

  • Fifteen (15) years minimum of information systems experience, preferably in the oil and gas industry, with a strong emphasis on SAP BASIS administration, SAP Security administration, infrastructure support, system upgrades, patching, monitoring, and change management.
  • Interpersonal skills to allow effective communication with individuals and teams.
  • Strong ability in diagnosing and solving problems while maintaining patience, professionalism, and courtesy.
  • Working knowledge of SAP database, operating system, server, and infrastructure concepts related to SAP system administration, maintenance, refreshes, patching, and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to establish priorities, meet deadlines, and concentrate on detailed information in a fast-paced demanding work environment.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other departments, officials, and the public.
  • Solid understanding of enterprise applications, SAP system landscapes, infrastructure tools, job scheduling, transport management, and general office applications.
  • Ability to complete multiple, diverse tasks of differing priorities with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Proficiency in the use and application of the following software:
    • Required: SAP BASIS Administration, SAP Security Administration, SAP Solution Manager, CHARM, transport management, system monitoring, patching, upgrades, database refreshes, and TSM.
    • Preferred: SAP HANA, ABAP troubleshooting, SQL, SAP Data Services, SAP RISE, PRA, UOM, audit support, and segregation of duties concepts.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year university or college with a degree in information technology, computer science, business administration, project management or related field of study, or relevant experience.

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Formal training in SAP, preferred, but not required
  • Certification in LEAN and/or Six Sigma, preferred, but not required.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, preferred, but not required.
