The Director of Commercial Real Estate Portfolio Management provides leadership and oversight of the Bank's existing commercial real estate portfolio. The Director manages and develops a team of Portfolio Managers responsible for monitoring the portfolio and ensuring credit quality, risk identification, regulatory compliance and effective relationship support. The position also works closely with credit administration, special assets, loan operations and executive management. The Director is responsible for establishing consistent portfolio management standards, ensuring timely completion of loan reviews, problem loan reports, identifying existing and emerging risks and maintaining the overall quality and performance of the CRE loan portfolio.

What you will do:

  • Lead, manage, coach, and develop a team of CRE Portfolio Managers, establishing clear performance expectations, appropriate workloads, accountability and consistent portfolio management practices.

  • Provide senior-level oversight of the CRE portfolio, ensuring timely and effective credit monitoring, annual reviews, renewals, covenant compliance, risk rating and identification of emerging credit issues and negotiating workout scenarios with borrowers, as required.

  • Provide guidance on complex credit structures, underwriting issues, loan modifications, renewals and participate in communication with borrowers as necessary.

  • Review all problem loan reports prepared by Portfolio Managers and participate in approval presentation to Credit Administration.

  • Monitor portfolio trends, including delinquencies, maturities, covenant exceptions, policy exceptions, risk rating migration, criticized/classified assets, and concentration level.

  • Provide senior management with regular reporting regarding portfolio performance, credit trends, concentrations, interest rate reset risks, maturities, and exceptions.

  • Travel Required 20-30 %.

Who You are:

  • 12 years experience in accounting, loan analytics, and/or banking required.

  • 5 years minimum leadership experience.

  • Business management, finance, or related degree preferred.

  • The successful candidate should possess experience and comprehensive knowledge of:

  • Managing a large and diverse CRE portfolio.

  • Managing a staff of CRE portfolio managers.

  • Commercial real estate lending, underwriting, portfolio management and credit administration.

  • CRE property types including multifamily, mobile home parks, retail, office and industrial.

  • Commercial real estate cash-flow analysis, including net operating income, debt service coverage, loan-to-value, debt yield, capitalization rates, and sensitivity analysis.

  • Borrower sponsor, guarantor and global cash-flow analysis.

  • Commercial real estate loan structures including acquisition, construction, bridge, term, refinance and permanent financing.

  • Risk-rating methodologies, criticized and classified assets, watch-list management and problem loan identification and resolution.

  • Commercial real estate concentration risk, portfolio diversification, stress testing and scenario analysis.

  • Banking regulations, regulatory guidance, credit policy requirements, appraisal and environmental standards and exception management.

  • Portfolio management systems, loan origination systems, covenant monitoring tools, financial spreading software and reporting platforms.

  • Principles of effective people management, succession planning and organizational development.

  • Establish consistent processes, controls, standards and performance expectations.

  • Interacting with Credit Administration, senior management and all stakeholders.

Pay Range: $180,000 - $240,000 annually

AIP Bonus up to 25%

Final compensation package will be determined by the work experience, education, and/or skill level of the applicant along with internal equity and alignment with geographic market data.
