Full-time, Tenure-Track Position in Management and Entrepreneurship, Akita International University

Akita International University (AIU) Faculty of International Liberal Arts invites applications for a tenure-track position in Management and Entrepreneurship at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, ideally to start April 1, 2027 (negotiable).

AIU provides an undergraduate curriculum with advanced programs in Global Business, Global Studies, and Global Connectivity. We seek an academic specialist in management and entrepreneurship, with a passion for classroom teaching and scholarly research, to join the Global Business program. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate courses in Management, Entrepreneurship, and introductory-level Accounting, and supervise one seminar. The teaching load is 18 credits per year. Please note that all courses are taught in English at AIU.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Ph.D. in a related field or commensurate depth of professional experience. If the Ph.D. is expected, documentation of the anticipated date of conferral is required. Teaching experience in Management, Accounting and/or Entrepreneurship. Scholarly achievements in a related field. Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to teach at a high level in English. Business-level fluency in Japanese. A commitment to liberal arts education and the AIU Mission Statement

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Practitioner experience in business, particularly in Management and/or Entrepreneurship. Experience in managing relationships with external stakeholders. Experience working in multi-cultural and multi-ethnic environments Experience living or working in Japan and familiarity with Japanese culture

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Teach undergraduate courses and seminars in the areas indicated above. Specific teaching assignments will be determined in consultation with the program supervisor and in consideration of the successful candidates areas of expertise. Engage in scholarly research activities leading to presentation and publication. Advise individual undergraduate students. Participate in service to the university, program, and community. Collaborate with faculty and staff on program development.
