Lecturer or Senior Lecturer - Computer Science

All faculty at Georgia State are, as part of their essential job duties, expected to: (1) be physically present on-campus as needed to contribute to Georgia State's in-person educational experience, and (2) be able to teach in each of the following instructional modalities - in-person, online, or blended/hybrid - as determined by their Department Chair or Dean.

The Department of Computer Science at Georgia State University ( https://www.csds.gsu.edu) invites applications for a full-time lecturer position or senior lecturer for Spring of 2027. Successful candidates must be able to demonstrate expertise in teaching Computer Science courses. Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in Programming, Algorithms, Data Science, Systems, Networks, Cloud Computing, Security, and Software Engineering.

Applicants for a position as Lecturer are expected to have the following basic qualifications: 1) the ability to teach Computer Science courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels; and 2) a commitment to broadening participation in computing and student mentorship.

Applicants for a position as Senior Lecturer are expected to have the following basic qualifications: 1) the ability to teach Computer Science courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels; 2) a commitment to broadening participation in computing and student mentorship; and 3) a minimum of 3 years of experience of teaching computer science in higher education.

Applicants are expected to have a Ph.D. in computer science or closely related field.

Ability to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background check.

The position may require non-standard hours (including day, evening, online, hybrid, weekend, and/or other campus locations).

Workload Distribution:

The position's responsibilities are allocated as follows: 80% Teaching and 20% Service.
