THIS IS A COURTESY POSTING FOR UC DAVIS

Please Note: This position is for UC Davis Veterinary Medicine and the work location will be at the UC Veterinary Medical Center located in University City (San Diego).

DESCRIPTION

The University of California, Davis School of Veterinary Medicine is expanding its veterinary specialty hospital in Southern California. The VMC-SC is a San Diego satellite specialty referral and 24-hour emergency hospital. This will expand the SVM's role in Southern California while providing clients and referring veterinarians with the highest level of customer care. Net income from this practice (which will be staffed by leading non-academic boarded specialists in surgery, internal medicine, critical care, and other specialties) will support the School of Veterinary Medicine's mission. This off-site clinical presence will also enable UC Davis to reach a broader base of clients and supporters and leverage the clinical, teaching, and research excellence at the UC Davis Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital in Davis, California. The facility will be a $30+M self-supporting enterprise critical to the School of Veterinary Medicine mission.

The Mission:We are reinventing what client care feels like in the veterinary industry. Our specialty hospital deals with complex medical cases where pet parents need more than standard administrative help-they need a luxury-level concierge experience rooted in deep empathy, flawless execution, and a warm, calming presence.

No veterinary experience? No problem. We believe 5-star service is a mindset, not a medical degree. We can teach you the veterinary terminology, but we cannot teach the genuine passion for serving others that you already possess. If you have thrived in luxury hotels, fine dining, premium retail, or upscale aviation/travel, your skills will translate perfectly here.

What You'll Do (Your "Stage"):

  • The First Impression: Welcome stressed pet parents with the poise and warmth of a luxury resort concierge, instantly lowering the room's anxiety.
  • Luxury Triage: Seamlessly manage incoming phone lines, coordinate with our medical triage teams, and schedule appointments with precision and elegance.
  • White-Glove Support: Anticipate client needs before they ask, managing checking in/out, billing, and comforting families during highly emotional moments.
  • Hospitality Standards: Maintain a pristine, welcoming, and odor-free front-of-house environment that reflects a true premium brand.

Who You Are:

  • Service Champion: You have 2+ years of experience in high-end hospitality (luxury hotels, fine dining, upscale concierge services, premium retail, or similar).
  • The Unshakable Professional: You remain calm, polished, and deeply empathetic under pressure, even when handling complex client emotions or emergencies.
  • Detail Obsessive: You take pride in remembering client names, tracking small details, and ensuring administrative accuracy.
  • Animal Lover: While you don't need a medical background, you must genuinely respect and care about animals and the people who love them.

Why You'll Love Us Better Than Traditional Hospitality:

  • Better Lifestyle Hours: No ultra-late restaurant closures or unpredictable tipping environments.
  • Purpose-Driven Work: You get to use your high-end service skills to make a profound, measurable difference in the lives of families and their pets.**
  • Career Growth: Comprehensive training in veterinary client communications, medical administration, and leadership tracks.
  • Premium Benefits: Competitive hourly pay, health/dental/vision insurance, paid time off, and veterinary discounts for your own pets.
