Summary


The Quality Assurance Intern will support Dunmore's Quality Management System and continuous improvement initiatives through documentation, quality data analysis, internal audit support, corrective action activities, and process standardization.



This hands-on role provides exposure to ISO 9001 and AS9100 quality systems within a manufacturing environment. The intern will collaborate with Quality, Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, and other cross-functional teams to improve process consistency, strengthen quality documentation, increase performance visibility, and support a proactive, risk-based approach to Quality.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities



  • Support Quality Management System standardization across Dunmore locations by reviewing and updating procedures, forms, work instructions, and related quality documentation.
  • Assist with ISO 9001 and AS9100 readiness activities, including gap assessments, internal audit preparation, audit participation, documentation review, and follow-up activities.
  • Collect, organize, and analyze quality data related to customer complaints, nonconformances, scrap, recurring defects, and other quality performance indicators to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Participate in root cause investigations and corrective action activities, including data gathering, action tracking, documentation, and effectiveness verification.
  • Support development and maintenance of training and competency documentation, including skills matrices, qualification records, and related controlled documentation.
  • Assist with development and reporting of Quality KPIs to improve visibility of department and process performance.
  • Work with Quality, Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, and other cross-functional teams to document manufacturing processes and convert process knowledge into clear, repeatable procedures and work instructions.
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects focused on reducing quality risk, waste, process variation, and recurring quality issues.
  • Present project results, lessons learned, findings, and recommendations to Quality and Operations team members at the conclusion of the internship
  • Other Duties as needed or required

Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities:



  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with effective organizational skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across functions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel with the ability to collect, organize, and analyze data.
  • Interest in manufacturing, Quality Management Systems, and continuous improvement.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001, AS9100, Lean/Six Sigma, Power BI, or related quality and data analysis tools is preferred



Education and Experience



  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Quality Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering or technical discipline.
  • Coursework, project experience, or demonstrated interest in Quality Management Systems, manufacturing, data analysis, or continuous improvement preferred.



Physical Demands - OFFICE / TRAVEL



  • Standing/Sitting: 70% sitting, 30% standing or walking for inspections and audits
  • Walking/Bending/Stooping: 30% for inspections and audits
  • Lifting Requirements: Up to 25 pounds occasionally
  • Travel by air, rail, auto (% of time): Minimal travel (less than 10%) between Dunmore facilities.
  • Work in manufacturing area, QA lab and office areas
  • Exposures - Odors, Fumes, Noise, Chemicals, Temperature, Vision strain, Moving parts.
