Currently recruiting Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) to provide anesthesia services at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center (CRDAMC) in Fort Hood, Texas. The CRNAs will support the Department of Anesthesia and other clinical areas requiring anesthesia support, providing surgical and obstetrical anesthesia services to the military healthcare community. CRDAMC operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and coverage may include 8-, 12-, 16-, or 24-hour periods on weekdays, weekends, training days, and Federal holidays. Actual schedules and shift start times are established based on mission requirements.
DUTIES OF THE CERTIFIED REGISTERED NURSE ANESTHETIST (CRNA):
- Perform comprehensive pre-anesthesia assessments, including review of patient history, physical examination, and evaluation of diagnostic data.
- Develop and implement individualized anesthesia care plans based on patient needs and planned procedures.
- Administer obstetrical anesthesia, including epidural, spinal, and combined spinal-epidural techniques for labor and delivery.
- Provide anesthesia services for cesarean sections and other obstetrical procedures.
- Administer general, regional, and local anesthesia for surgical procedures as required.
- Continuously monitor, interpret, and respond to patients'physiological status throughout the perioperative process.
- Manage patient airways and ventilation, including emergency airway situations.
- Recognize and respond appropriately to anesthesia-related complications and obstetrical emergencies.
- Provide post-anesthesia care, including patient recovery and follow-up evaluations.
- Document anesthesia care in accordance with Medical Treatment Facility policies and applicable standards.
- Utilize electronic health record systems, including MHS GENESIS, to document and manage patient care.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, family members, Government personnel, contractor personnel, and members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
- Maintain compliance with infection control, patient safety, and quality assurance standards.
- Perform anesthesia services in accordance with accepted standards of medical practice and within the scope of clinical privileges granted by the Medical Treatment Facility.
QUALIFICATIONS OF THE CERTIFIED REGISTERED NURSE ANESTHETIST (CRNA):
- Required Education: Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing recognized by a national accrediting body.
- Must be a graduate of a nurse anesthesia program accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA) and meet current national standards for entry into practice as a CRNA.
- Required Experience: Must possess a minimum of 2 years of full-time experience as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist within the preceding 3 years. Clinical rotations, internships, externships, residencies, fellowships, and other training completed as part of an educational program do not count toward the required experience.
- Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association, and current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification through the American Heart Association. Online ACLS and PALS certifications are not acceptable.
- Must possess and maintain current board certification through the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA). Certification must remain active, unrestricted, and in good standing throughout the period of performance.
- Must possess and maintain a current, valid, active, and unrestricted professional license applicable to the position. Because this is a non-personal services arrangement, the PWS requires licensure in the U.S. Jurisdiction where the Medical Treatment Facility is located, Texas.
- Must possess a DEA registration number.
- Must possess a valid 10-digit National Provider Identifier (NPI) issued by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen for access to U.S. Government networks.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare staff and safely perform required duties.
- Must successfully complete required credentialing and privileging before performing independent clinical duties.
- Must provide information required for applicable background investigations, installation access, identity verification, and Common Access Card requirements.
- Must meet applicable occupational health requirements, including required physical examination or testing documentation, TB screening before reporting for duty, and required immunization, vaccination, and health documentation.
- Must complete and maintain applicable DHA, CRDAMC, Army, security, HIPAA, information assurance, and facility-specific training requirements.
