Buckeye Partners is currently seeking an Analyst I, Supply & Trading in the oil and gas industry to join our team!

Role Summary

Support the Supply & Trading and Commercial teams by gathering, analyzing, and reporting market, operational, and commercial information. The Analyst will assist with monitoring market trends, preparing recurring reports, conducting research, and maintaining analytical tools that support informed trading and business decisions. This role works under the guidance of senior team members and contributes to daily commercial activities and special projects.


Responsibilities & Essential Functions

Reporting & Analysis



  • Prepare and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly reports that support trading and commercial activities.
  • Collect, organize, and analyze market data, including crude oil, gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, and other refined products.
  • Monitor refinery turnarounds, supply and demand fundamentals, and market developments impacting energy markets.
  • Assist with tracking arbitrage opportunities, regional pricing differentials, and market spreads.
  • Support analysis of EIA statistics and other publicly available industry data sources.
  • Compile and distribute market intelligence and key performance metrics to the commercial team.



Market Research



  • Review industry publications, news sources, and subscription services to identify relevant market developments.
  • Summarize key findings and provide concise updates to traders and commercial leadership.
  • Assist in researching emerging market trends and industry developments.



Analytical Tool Support



  • Maintain existing analytical models, reports, spreadsheets, and dashboards.
  • Assist in developing and improving tools used for market analysis, pricing support, and reporting.



Presentations & Communication



  • Support the development of presentations and reports for management meetings.
  • Assist with gathering data and preparing materials to communicate market insights and business performance.



Project Support



  • Provide analytical support for business initiatives, forecasting activities, and special projects.
  • Support pricing analyses, commercial evaluations, and business case development as needed.
  • Assist senior analysts and commercial leadership with ad hoc requests and research projects.



Other Duties



  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.



Position Requirements

Education



  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.


  • 1-3 years of experience in analytics, business analysis, market research, finance, supply chain, energy, or a related field.
  • Energy industry experience preferred but not required.
