About This Posting

This posting covers our Chino, CA manufacturing site's Logistics Clerk levels, from Material Handler / Shipping & Receiving up through Logistics Support. When you apply, we'll evaluate your background and experience to identify the level that's the best match, so you don't need to guess which title to apply for. (Looking for Inventory Control Specialist or Team Lead, Logistics? See that separate posting.)

This role works under the direction of the site manufacturing leader.

We're targeting candidates who can work afternoon hours, either a true PM shift (2:00 PM-10:00 PM) or a modified schedule (11:00 AM-7:00 PM).

About Luna

Luna Innovations designs and manufactures fiber optic sensing and test and measurement products used across aerospace, automotive, energy, and communications industries. Our manufacturing teams turn engineering designs into precision products, and the logistics function is what keeps materials, components, and finished goods moving accurately and on schedule.

What You Might Be Doing

Depending on level and assignment, responsibilities draw from the following areas:

  • Receiving incoming shipments: verifying counts, inspecting condition, and matching deliveries against purchase orders and packing slips.
  • Preparing outgoing shipments, including packing, labeling, generating shipping documentation, and coordinating with carriers.
  • Picking, staging, and delivering materials and components to production lines to support build schedules, including maintaining pick lists and sign-out sheets.
  • Operating material handling equipment such as pallet jacks or forklifts (certification provided as needed).
  • Organizing and maintaining stockroom and warehouse locations, including labeling, location accuracy, and quarantine/inspection holds.
  • Tracking work-in-process and finished goods, including movement of demo units, customer returns, and inter-department transfers.
Inventory Support

Logistics Clerks also support the inventory control function as assigned, including:

  • Performing scheduled and ad hoc cycle counts as directed.
  • Executing routine MRP transactions for receipts, issues, transfers, and returns to keep on-hand quantities accurate.
  • Flagging discrepancies, damage, or shrinkage to Inventory Control staff for investigation.
  • Supporting periodic full physical inventory counts, including count prep, blind counts, and tagging.

Ready to own inventory control end to end, or lead a logistics team? See our separate Inventory Control Specialist / Team Lead, Logistics posting.

What We're Looking For

Experience requirements scale with level:

  • Material Handler / Shipping & Receiving: prior warehouse, shipping/receiving, or general labor experience helpful but not required; willingness to learn.
  • Logistics Support: 1+ years in shipping, receiving, or warehouse operations; comfort with basic inventory or ERP systems.
  • Across all levels: attention to detail, reliability, and comfort working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Basic computer skills; experience with Microsoft Office and an MRP or inventory management system such as NetSuite is a plus.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift, carry, or move materials up to 40 lbs regularly, with occasional heavier lifting using team lift or equipment assistance
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching throughout a shift
  • Manual dexterity for handling components, packing materials, and operating scanning or handling equipment
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) as applicable to the work area
