      An internship with The Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago is not like your average internship. We are currently seeking a summer intern to work in our Credit Analysis team.

      Who are we you ask?

      We are a federally chartered corporation and one of 11 Federal Home Loan Banks (FHLBanks) that, with the Office of Finance, comprise the Federal Home Loan Bank System. The FHLBanks were chartered by Congress under the Federal Home Loan Bank Act of 1932 to improve the availability of funds to support home ownership. Each FHLBank is cooperatively owned by member financial institutions in its district and operated as a separate entity with its own management, employees, and board of directors. Our district consists of the states of Illinois and Wisconsin. We are regulated by the Federal Housing Finance Agency, an independent federal agency.

      How you'll make an impact:

      • Utilize Business Intelligence tools find opportunities to enhance Credit Risk analysis and achieve operational excellence
      • Perform Financial analysis to make informed decisions regarding our members
      • Support cross-team initiatives and socialize new ideas with stakeholders

      Credit Risk Responsibilities

      • Analyze income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements to inform business strategy and decision-making
      • Leverage business intelligence tools such as Tableau and SQL to extract large data sets, perform in-depth analyses and create reports for internal stakeholders
      • Assess performance trends and monitor limits for risk-taking to minimize the risk of default and loss from credit extended to the Bank's members
      • Research and monitor economic trends using a variety of sources including industry reports, public information, and regulatory insights
      • Gain exposure to financial modeling, validation, back-testing, and bench-marking

      Requirements

      • Enrolled in a undergraduate or graduate program at an accredited institution
      • Desired fields of study include Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Accounting, or other business-related discipline
      • Should have a GPA of at least 3.0 and be in good academic standing.
      • Intermediate knowledge of Excel is required

      Salary Range:

      $38,800.00 - $58,100.00
