INDIANAPOLIS POWER & LIGHT COMPANY NOTICE OF JOB VACANCY POSITION: Line Technician 1st Class UNION: IPL Physical Unit HOURLY WAGE RATE: $33.94 $57.62 LOCATION: Morris St QUALIFICATIONS: Applicant must have a high school diploma or GED; must be able to successfully complete the Company's lineman apprentice training program; have ability to perform construction and maintenance work on poles, towers, other overhead structures and underground equipment as required; must be capable of operating power equipment associated with work performed in Lines Field Operations; must meet standards for and be able to complete requirements for a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) as defined by the Commercial Motor Vehicle Safety Act of 1986. The applicant must pass the EEI Construction & Skilled Trades (CAST) test and the Lineman Physical Abilities Test (PAT). In addition, must be willing to work from any of the Company's operating centers, in inclement weather or emergencies and meet service commitments. Other general qualifications such as physical fitness, attendance, safety and performance records will be considered. Additional consideration will be given for the following job-related training or experience:
PRIMARY DUTIES: Performs both overhead and underground line construction, line maintenance and operating work, as required, on energized or de-energized lines at all system voltages using protective equipment prescribed by the safety rules. Performs duties such as: 1. Setting or removing poles or steel towers; installing and removing any associated equipment such as transformers, voltage regulators, streetlight regulators, capacitors, cutouts, lightning arresters, disconnects, oil switches, reclosers, etc.; 2. May be required at any time to drive or operate line truck, digger or any aerial truck; 3.Stringing conductors, splicing and correcting sagging wires; 4.Making safe and adequate rigging of blocks, gin poles, etc. necessary to raise or lower any associated line equipment or material; assistingline foreman in directing the operator of a truck, winch, crane, etc. used to raise or lower the equipment or material; 5.Assisting supervisor in training, teaching or instructing employees of a lower classification in safe and efficient work method; temporarilyacting as foreman when delegated; 6.Operating line or substation switches; repairing broken conductors or refuse transformers; replacing broken poles,defective transformers,regulators, cutouts, disconnects and all associated equipment; and 7.Placing and clearing temporary grounds on de-energized conductors. 8.Perform underground commercial and residential work. Must be willing to work rotating shifts including weekends and holidays. | |
