NOTE: work shifts are 8-10 hours starting at 6:00 AM, with physical requirements including sitting, standing, and light lifting. Your expertise will be instrumental in keeping production running seamlessly and supporting a high-volume manufacturing environment. What You'll Do: Planning Function
- Review work orders for completeness, legibility, and job content, taking appropriate corrective action.
- Determine job scope and limit conditions through field checks and consultation with both Production and Maintenance supervision.
- Review initial job priority and relative status to other work orders before entering them into the backlog file according to formal procedures.
- Analyze work for methods and craft requirements, issuing sub-orders and maintaining total job coordination responsibility.
- Determine required materials, supplies, equipment, tools, drawings, and engineered information.
- Initiate procurement using bills of materials and verify their availability before scheduling jobs.
- Prepare detailed estimates using simplified maintenance standards, historical data, and experience-based approximations.
- Identify and secure all necessary technical information, simple non-engineered sketches, safety measures, utility requirements, and production clearances.
- Complete planning packages for work orders and review them with Maintenance supervision.
Scheduling Function
- Determine approximate work order commencement dates from priority sequence and through consultation with both Production and Maintenance supervision.
- Establish the sequence and duration of all craft skills, including sub-order requirements, and prepare a tentative timetable that coordinates an entire work order.
- Prepare a detailed schedule that identifies daily activities, including allowances for emergency work, for all the next week's work orders.
- Submit schedules to Maintenance supervision and review in detail.
- Review major changes in scope after starting a work order that will require planning changes beyond daily activity and revise the weekly schedule accordingly.
- Comply with formal procedures to close jobs after completion.
- Prepare and submit weekly performance reports as a measure of scheduling efficiency.
General Functions
- Make independent decisions that minimize downtime and reduce maintenance spend through scheduling of personnel, material, and contractor selection.
- Maintain necessary records and files that facilitate planning and scheduling and are consistent with basic functions.
- Monitor all documentation and formal reports to ensure their accuracy, timeliness, and utility, taking prescribed corrective action.
- Provide requested information or submit special exception reports as required by Maintenance supervision.
- Complete any other assignments consistent with the basic function or requested by the Maintenance Foreman.
- Review completed jobs on an exception basis, requesting a detailed audit when warranted.
- Participate in cost reduction programs by analyzing Maintenance methods and alternative materials.
Must-Have Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience as a Maintenance Planner, preferably in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organization skills, coupled with the ability to communicate effectively and be self-directed.
- A strong work ethic that includes the ability to work 8-10-hour shifts while sitting, standing, bending, twisting, and lifting.
- A positive, adaptable, hard-working, and patient mindset.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications:
- 2+ years technical school or equivalent practical training in a primary technical field relating to the area being served (e.g., mechanical, electrical, machining).
