Position Overview
The Manager of Recruiting is a hands-on leadership role responsible for managing and strengthening the recruiting function that supports Sanders Brothers Construction's growth. This role leads day-to-day talent acquisition across field operations, skilled trades, equipment operators, office staff, and leadership positions while helping build the structure needed for the company's next phase of growth.
This is a builder's role with a strong emphasis on execution. The Manager of Recruiting will manage and develop the recruiting team, establish proactive talent pipelines, and implement consistent systems and metrics that help the company meet hiring demands while improving quality of hire, cultural alignment, and retention.
This role ensures that all hiring efforts align with Sanders Brothers' Core 6 values and that candidates understand and are prepared to operate within the company's Critical 6 safety expectations.
Reporting to the Vice President of Organizational Strategy & Development, this role is critical to achieving the company's growth goals. The position must demonstrate the ability to build and lead a complete recruiting function, develop a capable recruiting staff, produce consistent positive results, support expansion into new markets, and help scale Sanders Brothers toward approximately 500 employees.

Work Location & Collaboration
This is a full-time, in-office position based in Charleston, South Carolina and is not a remote or hybrid role. Regular in-person presence is required because recruiting success depends on close day-to-day coordination with operations, HR, Workforce Development, and company leadership; timely candidate and interview decisions; direct coaching of the recruiting team; and a strong understanding of field staffing needs and Sanders Brothers' culture.

Core Responsibilities
Recruiting Leadership & Execution
  • Lead and actively support recruiting activity across field operations, skilled trades, equipment operators, office staff, and leadership roles
  • Manage and develop the recruiting team - set priorities, establish accountability, coach performance, and build capability as the function grows
  • Build proactive talent pipelines aligned with workforce needs across all operating divisions
Workforce Planning & Execution
  • Partner with operations and leadership to forecast hiring needs 6-18 months out based on backlog and growth plans
  • Develop recruiting capability for geographic expansion and new markets, including the Beaufort/Bluffton/Hardeeville corridor
  • Ensure recruiting efforts align with company growth targets (360 500 employees) and the staffing structure required to support that growth
Culture & Safety-Aligned Hiring
  • Embed Core 6 values (Integrity, Accountability, Teamwork, Commitment, Safety, Quality) into the recruiting and selection process
  • Ensure candidates clearly understand expectations related to safety, quality, accountability, and teamwork prior to hire
  • Communicate the importance of adherence to Sanders Brothers' Critical 6 safety areas and assess candidate mindset toward safety compliance
  • Develop structured interview and evaluation processes that assess both technical ability and alignment with company standards
Pipeline & Relationship Development
  • Develop and maintain relationships with trade schools, technical colleges, workforce programs, and community partners
  • Strengthen Sanders Brothers' reputation as an employer of choice in the construction industry
  • Build sourcing strategies for hard-to-fill craft and leadership roles
Metrics & Performance Management
  • Track, report, and improve recruiting KPIs, including:
    • Time-to-fill
    • Source effectiveness
    • Offer acceptance rates
    • 6-month and 3-year retention
  • Monitor quality of hire through retention, safety performance trends, and alignment with Core 6 values
  • Use reporting systems to drive accountability, identify gaps, and improve recruiting performance
Employer Brand & Collaboration
  • Partner with marketing to communicate Sanders Brothers' culture, Core 6 values, and safety expectations externally
  • Collaborate with Workforce Development and HR to ensure alignment between hiring, onboarding, and retention
