The Learning Lab Instructor shoulders the pivotal role of guiding adult learners through GED preparation, high school completion, and remedial education. Their mission is to empower students to unlock their full potential by delivering engaging coursework and fostering a creative learning environment.

In the multifaceted role of a Learning Lab Instructor, key responsibilities encompass facilitating student enrollment by conducting transcript evaluations and aiding in the selection of appropriate coursework. They diligently oversee and support students in their journey through GED preparation and adult education, fostering both academic and social growth. Maintaining meticulous records, they ensure the confidentiality and accuracy of student progress documentation. Through comprehensive assessment and testing, they gauge student proficiency in relevant areas and provide timely interventions for those who require additional support. Additionally, they guide students towards ancillary opportunities such as work-study programs, equipping them with the necessary information to make informed decisions about post-secondary education and potential scholarships. When necessary, they adeptly refer students to external agencies for specialized assistance, ensuring holistic support throughout their educational endeavors.

Candidates for the role of Learning Lab Instructor must hold a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, with a background in Education being advantageous. Previous experience in Adult Educational programs is preferred. Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential, alongside strong organizational abilities to manage multiple responsibilities and priorities effectively. The candidate must demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and a capacity to thrive in a collaborative team environment. Confidentiality is paramount in this role. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Apps is expected, as well as a solid understanding of computer-related technology. The ability to comprehend and interpret various materials such as business periodicals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations is necessary, along with the capability to generate reports and correspondence. Moreover, the candidate should possess adept presentation skills and the capacity to address inquiries from diverse audiences. They should be proficient in interpreting and executing instructions provided in various formats, including written, oral, diagrammatic, or scheduling forms.

The successful candidate will believe in and support the student first philosophy while contributing to the overall success of Baker College, while acting as a positive role model and brand ambassador on and off campus.
