Overview
QuarterLine (QL), a Planned Systems International (PSI) company, is seeking dedicated and experienced Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) candidates to provide high-quality laboratory support at Madigan Army Medical Center (MAMC), Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM), WA. The HCW provides laboratory support by receiving, reviewing, accessioning, processing, and preparing patient specimens for laboratory testing. The ideal candidate will be dependable, detail-oriented, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced military medical environment while maintaining accuracy, professionalism, and patient confidentiality. This position requires a healthcare professional who can meet all applicable government qualification, credentialing, security, and onboarding requirements while working under a personal services arrangement.
Duty Location: Madigan Army Medical Center, Joint Base Lewis McChord, Tacoma, WA 98431. No Telework allowed.
- Duty Hours: Shifts will be Monday through Sunday to include holidays and weekends
- Two 10-hour shifts: 1200-2230 and 2200-0830
- One 8-hour shift: 1200-2030 Tuesday - Saturday
- One 10-hour shift: 1000- 1830 Saturday
- One 8-hour shift: 1000 - 1830 Saturday
Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities
- Receive, inspect, label, accession, and process specimens from Madigan and other DHA laboratories.
- Enter specimens and laboratory requests into the Laboratory Information System (LIS) and MHS Genesis.
- Verify specimen integrity, collection timing, labeling, containers, and suitability for testing.
- Prepare and distribute specimens to the appropriate laboratory sections or for transport/mail-out.
- Process blood, urine, and other biological fluids in accordance with established procedures.
- Prepare biological waste for proper disposal.
- Provide general support to Medical Laboratory Technicians (MLTs) and Clinical Laboratory Scientists (CLSs), including communicating specimen requirements with clinical departments.
- Perform venipuncture on service members when required during aircraft incidents.
- Greet patients, determine eligibility and testing priority, and verify laboratory orders.
- Maintain strict compliance with HIPAA, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), PPE requirements, and Joint Commission standards.
- Perform all duties in a safe, timely, professional, and quality-focused manner.
Minimum Requirements
- Experience: A minimum of one (1) year qualifying experience in the past two years as a Medical Laboratory Technician.
- Legal Authorization to Work in the United States: The contract worker performing under this contract must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Certification(s):
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) certification from a nationally recognized certifying organization.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross. Certification cards must display the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross. Web-based (on-line) classes are not acceptable by the Government.
- Degree/Education: High School Diploma or equivalent; AND Graduate from a medical laboratory technician training program accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or educational program acceptable to the American Medical Technologist (AMT).
