Salary: 85k-99k

Mechanical Design Engineer, Product Development Hot Runners & Controllers

In this role you will be responsible for contributing to the development of new products and technologies in a dynamic and growing business.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

*Convert product definition into concept and design with minimal guidance for hot runner, heater, and controller products

*Conduct and review engineering analyses during the design process. i.e. stress, thermal, fluid flow, reliability, FMEA, and lab evaluations / physical testing

*Develop test models and equipment for the verification and validation of design concepts

*Contribute to the formulation and evaluation of business cases for specific projects

*Create, implement and manage development project plans & budget from start to finish including definition, concepting, prototyping, testing and final product implementation phases; support business commercialization phases

*Project communication throughout the various phases is a key role requirement, to include project presentations, schedules, design reviews, development updates, risk assessment reports and design rationale documentation

*Work independently and/or as part of a team to evaluate and advance new technologies in the injection molding plastics domain

TECHNICAL/PROFESSIONAL KNOWLEDGE:

*Experienced CAD user including GD&T (Unigraphics preferred)

*Strong background and knowledge in mechanical design and analytics (Thermal / Structural / CFD)

*Data analytics

*Manufacturing and inspection experience

*Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook

*Confident, self-starter with good communication skills, both written and oral

*Tenacious problem solving and troubleshooting a must

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

*University degree in Mechanical Engineering (B.A.Sc. and/or M.Sc.)

*5 years mechanical or electro-mechanical engineering experience

*Knowledge of injection molded plastics processing required; Hot Runner design background desired

*Knowledge of specialty heater design for plastics processing desired

*Experience as a project lead preferred
