Clery Act and Youth Protection Compliance Analyst

The University of Virginia seeks a Clery Act and Youth Protection Compliance Analyst. The analyst provides strategic leadership and subject-matter expertise for University systems, infrastructure, and processes supporting institution-wide Clery Act compliance, and the protection of minors participating in youth camps and youth programs on Grounds. They serve as a primary resource for University stakeholders and provide strategic direction regarding the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of compliance systems and processes related to federal, state, and institutional requirements related to youth protection and the Clery Act.

The analyst is responsible for administration and oversight of systems, including GIS mapping technology. They evaluate system functionality and user needs, lead system enhancements, and provide ongoing technical assistance to ensure that technology effectively supports institutional compliance, regulatory requirements, risk management, and operational objectives.

The analyst will also act in a response capacity, providing as-needed analysis and support for complex questions, reports, and concerns regarding both Clery Act-related emergent safety issues and incident reports related to youth protection, including reports of suspected child abuse and neglect.

The analyst will assist with developing and delivering training, presentations, guidance, and other educational resources for diverse University and community stakeholders. They will lead the development of infrastructure necessary to support Clery Act and HRM-050 compliance across distinct University locations and operational environments, including University-affiliated Health Systems and Clery Act separate campus locations. The analyst will collaborate with stakeholders across the University to identify operational and compliance needs, translate regulatory requirements into effective systems and processes, and develop sustainable solutions that strengthen institutional capacity and reduce risk.

The analyst will analyze complex data sets, including incident reports, system data, compliance information, and will also provide ongoing assessment of incident reports as potential Clery Act crime statistics and/or incidents reportable under state law. They serve as a subject-matter expert and strategic partner to University stakeholders and are responsible for leading and supporting complex Clery Act and youth protection initiatives and other related projects as assigned.

Major responsibilities:

• Provide system creation and management of all Clery and Youth Protection systems, including Ideal Logic/ Youth Protection Portal and youth participant registration system, Veoci, GIS mapping software, and background checks
• Respond to technical assistance support for system users
• Respond to questions and reports regarding child abuse and neglect
• Respond to emergent incidents
• Facilitate presentations and trainings on UVA's Youth Protection program, Clery compliance, applicable policies and laws, and youth program best practices
• Maintain resource library and other technical assistance-related systems for Youth Protection
• Improve and maintain infrastructure related to Clery- separate campus locations
• Improve and maintain infrastructure related to health systems Clery Act and youth protection regulations
• Assist in analyzing data such as incident reports and system data; identify trends and needs and implement enhancements
  

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree. 4 years of Clery Act experience with may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Experience: At least two years of experience supporting organizational compliance efforts in higher education, youth protection regulatory compliance, law enforcement, Clery Act compliance, or other related fields is required; five years of experience is strongly preferred.

• Ability to learn the function, policies, and services of the Department of Safety and Security and the University
• Demonstrated professional judgment and experience analyzing, applying, and communicating policies and procedures
• Professional experience in a consultative capacity, providing guidance to stakeholders
• Ability to exercise judgment and discretion with sensitive and confidential information
• Experience independently and effectively developing and managing multiple projects and tasks and appropriately prioritizing deadlines
• Demonstrated technical expertise with experience in effectively managing a workflow or process involving multiple stakeholders within an electronic system or platform
• A self-motivated professional capable of taking ownership of complex projects and working independently to meetdeadlines andrequirements
• Software and systems experiencing, including Microsoft Office suite, databases, incident reporting systems, and/or GIS mapping

Comprehensive knowledge of the following is strongly desired:

• Clery Act
• Data analysis
• Reporting suspected child abuse or neglect
• Familiarity with other higher education regulations and compliance areas

Physical Demands

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.

The hiring range is $65,000-$70,800, commensurate with education and experience.

This position is based in Charlottesville, VA, and is eligible for a hybrid schedule, with additional on-site presence as needed, in accordance with UVA's remote work guidelines.
