The Division of Geriatrics is seeking a full-time Outreach Manager to support the UCSF Geriatric Care & Dementia Trainings and Warmline Consultations program funded by the California Health Care Access and Information (HCAI) Rural Health Care Training and Technical Assistance Program (RHTP). This role is essential in ensuring the program's success by driving engagement with rural healthcare providers and interdisciplinary care teams, increasing awareness and participation in the Dementia Care Aware (DCA) program. By creating targeted outreach campaigns, fostering connections with program participants, and representing the program at key events, the Outreach Manager plays a pivotal role in expanding access to evidence-based dementia and geriatric care, ultimately advancing the program's mission to improve healthcare outcomes in underserved communities. The Outreach Manager will develop and execute targeted outreach strategies to engage rural healthcare providers, interdisciplinary care teams, and community stakeholders. Key responsibilities include creating audience-focused talking points and campaigns that align with broader communication strategies, drafting and distributing tailored messaging, and conducting follow-ups via email and phone as needed. The manager will also represent the program at conferences and events, providing information about Dementia Care Aware (DCA) to potential participants and conducting needs assessments to connect them with appropriate interventions or resources. Additionally, they will track and analyze outreach efforts using DCA data systems and contribute to program analytics. This position requires a dynamic communicator with strong organizational skills, a passion for healthcare equity, and the ability to build relationships that support the program's mission to improve dementia and geriatric care in rural and underserved communities across California. Qualifications
Required Qualifications - Knowledge of all aspects of communications, including strategic planning for various media venues, technical aspects and requirements of various venues, and most appropriate and effective applications. - Knowledge and understanding of technical applications to effectively direct technical staff, or personally perform technical work, including design concepts, various media, and applications. - Knowledge of the organization, its achievements, mission, vision, goals, policies, practices, infrastructure, and a strong knowledge of current affairs, and issues in higher education and / or health sciences. - Solid skills to create, develop, and implement comprehensive long and short term strategic communications plans. - Knowledge and skills to advise and consult with management to ensure delivery of the desired message to the target and / or broad general audiences. - Solid written, verbal, interpersonal communications, active listening and political acumen skills. - Knowledge of location protocols and channels for communication internally and externally. - Ability to travel for work (locally and nationally). - Previous experience leading marketing campaigns, including knowledge of budget management. Preferred Qualifications - Previous experience working in an academic/healthcare institution and/or working with rural health populations. - Knowledge of federal and state healthcare policy, including relevant statutes, regulations, and program requirements; ability to interpret policy changes and assess their operational and programmatic impact.
