About the Department:


The Department of Social Work is dedicated to advancing holistic human health and well-being by engaging with diverse populations across systems and throughout the life course. Faculty bring internationally recognized expertise in areas such as substance use, mental health, sexual health, violence prevention, gerontology, family functioning, and child development. The department has a long-standing tradition of faculty-student-community research collaborations that strengthen both social work education and practice. At the forefront of research and training, the department prepares the next generation of social workers using evidence-based practices and innovative methodologies, including digital technology, simulation, creative arts, and trauma-informed approaches to promote community-engaged interventions. Faculty collaborate extensively within the department and across the College of Public Health to advance interdisciplinary solutions to pressing social issues.

Offering both BSW and MSW programs, including a fully online MSW option, the curriculum is rooted in social justice and provides students with foundational knowledge and advanced skills for diverse roles in clinical, organizational, and community settings. Students benefit from unique interprofessional opportunities within the College of Public Health, deepening their understanding of the root causes of social issues and shaping their career trajectories. Through partnerships with hundreds of practicum sites nationwide and initiatives like the Social Work integrative Research Lab (SWiRL), students gain valuable hands-on experience and collaborate on impactful research. About the Position:


The Project Coordinator is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of a federally funded project focused on developing, implementing, and evaluating a virtual reality (VR)-based training program to improve responses to domestic violence victims. The position coordinates project activities, stakeholder engagement, Advisory Board operations, participant recruitment and tracking, training logistics, data collection, reporting, and communication among university and community partners. The Project Coordinator ensures timely completion of project milestones, compliance with grant requirements, and successful implementation of all project deliverables. This position is fully funded by a grant.


Responsibilities:


Project Coordination and Management



  • Coordinates and monitors all day-to-day project activities;
  • Develops and maintains project timelines;
  • Tracks project tasks, milestones, deliverables, and resource utilization;
  • Monitors project progress;
  • Identifies and communicates potential issues and risks;
  • Supports timely completion of project objectives;
  • Maintains project management systems and documentation; and
  • Ensures project activities are aligned with the project scope and grant requirements.


Stakeholder, Advisory Board, and Partner Coordination



  • Facilitates communication and collaboration among university personnel, community partners, advisory board members, consultants, and other stakeholders;
  • Schedules and coordinates meetings;
  • Prepare agendas and meeting materials;
  • Documents meeting outcomes and action items; and
  • Supports stakeholder engagement activities.


Participant Recruitment, Data Management, and Evaluation Support



  • Assists with participant recruitment, enrollment, scheduling, tracking, and retention activities;
  • Maintains project databases and records;
  • Supports data collection and management activities;
  • Ensures data quality and confidentiality;
  • Generates reports and summaries; and
  • Assists with evaluation and reporting requirements.


Training, Event, and Logistics Coordination



  • Coordinates logistics for training, workshops, pilot testing activities, and project events;
  • Manages scheduling, materials, communications, participant support, and event documentation; and
  • Ensures smooth implementation of project activities.


Administrative and Grant Support



  • Prepares reports, correspondence, and project documentation;
  • Assists with grant-related reporting;
  • Maintains records and files;
  • Process project-related administrative tasks; and
  • Performs other duties as assigned in support of project goals.


Required Qualifications:



  • High school diploma or equivalent;
  • Experience (typically at least one year) coordinating projects, programs, research studies, training initiatives, or related activities;
  • Strong organizational, administrative, and project management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple tasks, timelines, and competing priorities simultaneously;
  • Strong data management and record-keeping skills, including the ability to track project activities, timelines, deliverables, and participant information accurately;
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and stakeholder communication skills;
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team;
  • Ability to coordinate activities among university personnel, community partners, advisory board members, and external organizations;
  • Ability to monitor project progress, identify potential issues, and support timely resolution to ensure project milestones are met; and
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise professional judgment when handling sensitive information.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in related field;
  • Experience using project management, scheduling, spreadsheet, or data management systems to monitor project activities and outcomes;
  • Experience working on federally funded grants or contracts;
  • Experience coordinating activities involving multiple partner organizations, including scheduling meetings, tracking deliverables, and managing project workflows;
  • Experience supporting research, evaluation, training, or workforce development initiatives in higher education, healthcare, victim services, public safety, behavioral health, or community-based settings;
  • Experience using data management, survey, or research platforms such as Qualtrics, REDCap, SPSS, or similar systems;
  • Experience preparing reports, maintaining documentation, and supporting grant or project administration activities;
  • Knowledge of domestic violence, victim services, trauma-informed practice, behavioral health, criminal justice systems, or related human services fields;
  • Knowledge of or experience using project management, scheduling, and task-tracking tools and platforms (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, Teams, Trello, Asana, or similar systems);
  • Interest in workforce development, virtual reality technologies, simulation-based training, or innovative educational approaches; and
  • Familiarity with research methods, program evaluation, participant recruitment, and data collection processes.
