Job Summary

The Maintenance Planner Scheduler is responsible for developing and assigning work schedules for maintenance repairs, preventative maintenance and schedules installation of new equipment, with necessary information to allow efficient scheduling, assignment and execution of maintenance work to ensure equipment operates correctly and efficiently according to production requirements. The planner is also responsible for maintenance of records and files essential to meaningful analysis and reporting of maintenance-related matters. Maintenance Planners are required to interact and communicate regularly with Operations and Maintenance. Not only is the Maintenance Planner's role to interact with these groups, he or she serves as an integral member of the relationship between the groups by acting as a liaison between them. In addition the Maintenance Planner also monitors and updates kits the assigned to W/O and PM's


Key Responsibilities


  • Prepare, develop and assign weekly work schedules for routine and corrective/breakdown maintenance activities for all non-emergency maintenance work to the maintenance teams.
  • Attend and lead preventative maintenance planning meetings.
  • Analyze work stoppages to identify and correct the underlying cause of recurring problems. Generate maintenance performance metrics.
  • Organize and maintain equipment history files, equipment information and vendor literature and direct planning activities in plant files both electronically and on paper. Maintain complete and accurate records within the CMMS.
  • Work with the Maintenance Supervisor to continuously improve the PM/PdM program and coordinate maintenance and repair of plant equipment which impacts both production and quality.
  • Coordinate and assign maintenance activities between internal departments, outside contractors, and among various work groups to ensure that jobs are planned and scheduled in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Drive continual improvement in quality, productivity, efficiency and cost.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations.
  • Is responsible for both long-range and short-range planning of equipment maintenance.
  • Coordinate equipment downtime.
  • Partner with all departments of the organization.
  • Serve as a backup to the MMS Supervisor role to cover in absence by learning the responsibilities in the maintenance crib and duties that would need to be covered by the MMS Supervisor.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Experience: At least 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment and knowledge of facilities and production equipment maintenance. Direct experience with maintenance planning and/or supervision is preferred.
  • Knowledge/Skills: Must have a strong knowledge of CMMS or other maintenance planning platforms. Must be able to work independently and as part of a team. Strong organizational and time management skills, Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
  • Leadership: Strong analytical and problem solving ability. Must be able to work with other departments and follow all food safety guidelines and HACCP requirements. Must have computer skills to communicate and process data.
  • Age: Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
  • Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the United States; no sponsorships are available.
  • Education: An Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent is preferred.
  • Physical Abilities:


    • Ability to stand for long periods.
    • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, including above the head and below the waist.


  • Environmental: Ability to work in varying temperature conditions.
  • Flexibility: Must be able to work weekends as needed. This requirement is for the purposes of training new team members, equipment shutdowns, and for involvement in unplanned events. Ability to adjust quickly to changing demands. Must be able to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Compliance: Must practice good personal hygiene. Candidates must successfully pass a post-offer/pre-employment drug test, background screen, physical and E-Verify.
