DESCRIPTION

Under general supervision, perform independently a wide variety of technical procedures within the blood gas testing program. Responsibilities include method development-modification-parallel testing, collaboration on or independent preparation of abstracts or manuscripts, repair of laboratory instruments, sample processing, reagent preparation, data entry and phlebotomy duties. Other responsibilities include maintaining staff competencies for blood gas testing, performing device validations, troubleshooting blood gas testing devices, and serving as a liaison between blood gas testing program and central lab. May process specimens, perform waived and non-waived testing without direct and constant supervision, and report results without supervisor or director review for the tests that are within scope of licensure and for which have been trained and deemed competent. Performs all other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS).

  • Must have at least two (2) years of applicable clinical laboratory experience.

  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Teams, PowerPoint, and Excel.

  • Self-motivated with strong initiative and strong problem-solving skills.

  • Experience with laboratory validations and familiarity with CAP and CLIA regulations preferred.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree.

  • Point of care testing experience.

  • Experience with Blood Gas Testing.

  • Working with a multidisciplinary team.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be willing to travel between multiple sites as needed to complete training, competency assessments, and operational responsibilities.
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $127,076 - $167,416 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $60.86 - $80.18

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
