Shift: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM; Every Other Saturday, 8:00 AM-12:00 PM

Employment Option: Temp-to-Perm Optional - Contingent Worker may be converted to a Full-Time Employee based on performance

Required Skills

  • Minimum 2+ years of phlebotomy experience
  • Experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced laboratory or hospital setting
  • Strong specimen handling and processing skills

  • 3+ years of phlebotomy experience
  • Experience with both straight needles and butterfly needles
  • Experience in specimen processing and laboratory workflows


Job Description

Summary:

The Phlebotomist II assists with blood collection and specimen processing while supporting troubleshooting, training, and workflow improvement recommendations.


Position Responsibilities

  • Perform blood draws using straight needles and butterfly needles.
  • Collect and store blood, urine, fecal, and other specimens according to established procedures.
  • Clearly and courteously explain the venipuncture and specimen collection process to patients.
  • Verify physician orders and ensure laboratory requisitions match specimen tubes.
  • Accurately label, centrifuge, split, freeze, and package specimens according to test requirements.
  • Verify test requisitions and computer-generated labels against physician orders/scripts to ensure accuracy.
  • Place specimens in appropriate collection containers and maintain required storage temperatures.
  • Package and prepare specimens for transportation while maintaining specimen integrity.
  • Update patient information and maintain accurate records.
  • Record maintenance data and perform equipment/work-area decontamination.
  • Troubleshoot issues and make recommendations to improve workflow.
  • Answer telephone calls and provide laboratory results or information as permitted.
  • Follow all OSHA and DEP regulations and established laboratory protocols.
  • Attend required annual department training.
  • Assist with training and support other team members as needed.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Valid Phlebotomy Certification for the state of employment, where required.
  • Minimum 6 months of venipuncture experience in a fast-paced laboratory or hospital setting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience preferred.
