Position Description:

The DNA Learning Center (DNALC) of Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory has immediate full-time educator positions available at DNA Learning Center NYC (DNALC NYC) in Downtown Brooklyn. The selected candidate will join a small, influential group recognized worldwide as a leader in creating and disseminating new methods in genetics education, including the fields of genomics, bioinformatics, and data science. Over 700,000 students have conducted experiments with DNALC staff-join our team as we aim to reach a million and more!

Position Responsibilities:

* Provide hands-on genetics and molecular biology instructiton to precollege students visiting the DNALC for academic year field trips, summer camps, and extended research projects

* Deliver in-school instruction

* Assist with laboratory testing an prep

* Conduct teacher training and

* Present public tours

* Conducting teacher training and developing teaching modules.

Position Requirements:

EDUCATION:
* Bachelor's degree with significant coursework in science (biology or molecular genetics preferred)

EXPERIENCE:
* Strong science background required with an interest and/or experience in teaching

OTHER:
* NYS teaching certification preferred, but not required.
* Recent PhD graduates who would like to pursue teaching careers are also encouraged to
apply-especially those with experience in personal genomics, DNA barcoding, metabarcoding, or bioinformatics

KNOWLEDGE/ SKILLS REQUIRED TO PERFORM THE JOB:
* Strong content knowledge
* Excellent verbal and written communications skills
* Strong organizational skills
* Ability to work closely with others
* Must be motivated and a self-starter
* Availability to travel (domestic and international)

Compensation and Benefits:

The salary range and/or hourly rate listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future. When determining a base salary and/or rate, several factors may be considered as applicable (e.g., years of relevant experience, education, credentials, and internal equity).
