What You Can Expect

As a Senior Settlements Analyst Contractor, you will support the Power Settlements team with settlement processes, financial analysis, reconciliation activities, and Project Phoenix. Project Phoenix is focused on changes to the organization's pricing and billing engines, and this position will help the team establish new curves, adapt current processes, and improve settlements-related workflows . Will combine power-market settlements experience with strong technical and analytical capabilities. Experience supporting one or more ISO or regional power markets, including ERCOT, PJM, MISO, NYISO, or ISO New England, is highly desirable.




  • Support Project Phoenix activities related to changes in the pricing and billing engines.
  • Assist with developing, maintaining, and updating market index and pass-through product pricing curves used as billing determinants.
  • Prepare month-end gross margin estimates and communicate results to Accounting for booking.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly revenue and cost-of-goods-sold variances, including estimate-to-actual, pricing, and volume impacts.
  • Identify, investigate, and follow up on customer invoicing, usage, and revenue forecasting issues.
  • Partner with the Operations Billing team to support accurate customer invoicing for index and pass-through products.
  • Track, analyze, and report margin impacts and long-term neutrality for index and pass-through products.
  • Validate ISO invoices by reconciling charges and supporting data against internal systems.
  • Coordinate clarification or dispute resolution with ISOs and counterparties when needed.
  • Prepare actual revenue and cost-of-goods-sold results and communicate information to Accounting in support of general-ledger entries.
  • Work with IT to improve forecast quantity reliability, revenue reliability, data integrity, and system accuracy.
  • Collaborate with the Energy Management Settlements team on ISO settlement processes and with Accounting on wholesale counterparty settlements.
  • Partner across Portfolio Management, Pricing, Operations, IT, Accounting, and external vendors to support accurate data and coordinated end-to-end processes.
  • Provide stakeholders with accessible and user-friendly settlements data.
  • Support process improvements and automation using technical tools such as VBA, Power Query, macros, Python, or DAX.
  • Maintain current knowledge of applicable power markets and relevant regulatory developments.



What You'll Bring



  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field or lieu of a degree, an equivalent combination of progressive experience in power settlements, financial operations, accounting processes, gross-margin reconciliation, and data analysis.
  • Minimum five years of relevant experience in power settlements, retail or wholesale power, financial operations, or a related field.
  • Experience with settlement analysis, gross-margin reconciliation, revenue analysis, or financial analysis.
  • Working knowledge of ISO and wholesale trade settlements.
  • Experience interpreting and reconciling complex power-market and financial data.
  • Knowledge of one or more regional power markets, preferably ERCOT, PJM, MISO, NYISO, or ISO New England.
  • Experience working effectively in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong organizational, follow-up, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to identify data or process discrepancies.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and explain or present analytical findings
