THE POSITION

As a Crime Victim Compensation Specialist (Criminal Justice System Specialist 1) with the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency, you will play an important part in supporting individuals affected by crime. You will help victims understand their options and connect them with resources that can improve their stability. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position focuses on assisting victims, families, and service providers with the compensation process while supporting community outreach in Philadelphia County. It requires strong communication skills, detailed program knowledge, and regular coordination with many partners. As a Crime Victim Compensation Specialist (Criminal Justice System Specialist 1), you will perform the following duties:

  • Outreach Support: Build and maintain relationships with service providers, law enforcement, employers, and others to help move claims forward
  • Issue Resolution: Address concerns, explain program rules, and assist with completing documentation needed for claim decisions
  • Technical Guidance: Offer information sessions and provide direction to allied professionals about the claim process and their responsibilities
  • Program Knowledge: Maintain understanding of statutes, regulations, policies, and procedures related to the Victim Compensation Assistance Program
  • Claim Collaboration: Coordinate with claim specialists and supervisors to identify when follow-up is needed for claim progress
  • Communication Duties: Participate in staff meetings, share updates, and take part in training to strengthen job skills

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Travel is required.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Philadelphia. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Successful completion of the commonwealth's Criminal Justice System Specialist Trainee program; or
  • One year of professional experience in criminal or juvenile justice, law enforcement, or victim services, and a bachelor's degree in the social or behavioral sciences, criminal justice, law enforcement, or a related field; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
