Description
Nitsch Engineering is seeking a Transportation Co-op to join our team in our Boston Massachusetts office for the Spring of 2027 term. Reporting to the Director of Transportation, the Transportation Co-op applies engineering fundamentals to design of transportation engineering projects. This position will also have the opportunity to support our Civil Engineering Department to support land development projects. This is a developmental position in which the Co-op learns to apply theoretical knowledge to practical application.
Responsibilities:
  • Performs CAD drafting and simple design tasks using current computer software.
  • Practices increasing proficiency in the use of a computer for design and CAD applications.
  • Performs routine design tasks such as roadway layout, traffic management, traffic signal, construction estimates, and utility design. Works on portions of projects on a task by task basis.
  • Practices solving engineering problems using experience, judgment, and education, and will always work with a project engineering and project manager.
  • Conduct traffic data collection as directed by the engineer or project manager.
  • Works from and creates design drawings that are to standard.
  • Produces graphs, charts, overlays, simple isometric, and perspective drawings using CAD systems.
  • Prepares quantity and cost estimates when requested.
  • Reviews existing conditions information for project sites.
  • Make copies/organizes digital documents and outside companies for completing project-related deliverables.
  • Performs all other related assigned duties.
Knowledge and Experience Required: Current enrollment in a college-level Civil Engineering technical program or an accredited university engineering program. AutoCAD experience preferred, but not required. Microsoft Word and Outlook mail knowledge is required.
