Position Location: This position is located in Los Alamos, New Mexico. Los Alamos is a tight-knit mountain community that consistently ranks as one of Livability.com's Best Small Towns in America. For two years in a row, Los Alamos County has ranked as the healthiest county in the nation according to a U.S. News report. The city is a top spot for outdoor enthusiasts as it has more than 120 hiking and biking trails, and residents enjoy easy access to the Pajarito Mountain Ski Area. Thanks to the University of New Mexico-Los Alamos' presence in the area, Los Alamos also has a college-town vibe that's a major draw for young professionals, families and retirees. Position Summary: N3B is currently seeking early career Electrical Engineer 1 to support the design team by performing the duties related to the successful completion and delivery of projects and tasks. Assignments typically include a mixture of on-site and office duties. The successful candidate will be exposed to all phases of project development and have the ability to understand and apply the NEC to industrial electrical systems. The activities you will be supporting may include the design and/or sizing of transformers, power panels, control panels and VFD's. Project design documentation may include system layouts and sizing, one-lines, wiring diagrams, equipment specifications, and transformer sizing to name a few. Excellent communication and organizational skills are required as well as the ability to multi-task and work independently and in a team. While working to achieve N3B objectives, the successful candidate will: ensure all activities and operations are performed in a safe and deliberate manner through maintaining required safety, security, and operational training. Making safety, security and quality an integral part of every task including taking the necessary steps to pause or stop work as necessary to ensure the safety and security personnel and the job site. Education and Experience Required: Level 1: Bachelors in Science degree in Electrical Engineering, or related fields from an ABET-accredited college or university. Experience with load flow, short circuit analysis, and arc flash hazards system analysis software is a plus. Level 2: Bachelors in Science degree in Electrical Engineering, or related fields from an ABET-accredited college or university and 3 years of experience. Failure to achieve results can normally be overcome without serious effect on schedules and programs. Level 2: Contributes to the completion of organizational projects and goals. Errors in judgement or failure to achieve results would normally require a moderate expenditure of resources to rectify. Working Conditions and Physical Requirements: Normally assigned to perform work in an office environment with occasional field work. Electrical hazards and other minor potential hazards normally found in an office environment are anticipated. Minor hazards normally found in a northern New Mexico field data collection environment are anticipated. Job performance requires adequate visual acuity and manual dexterity for meeting the requirements of the discipline. Office and field work environment.
