Position: Shift Supervisor/Operations Manager

The Shift Supervisor is responsible for facilitating daily shelter operations. Jamaica Women's Employment Shelter is a transitional shelter for women who are experiencing homelessness and are employed or deemed employable, and; referred by the New York City Department of Homeless Services (DHS).

Location: Queens Village, NY 11429

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED preferred plus one-year relevant experience working in a similar capacity in a social service setting.
• Must possess good interpersonal skills and basic computer knowledge.
• Certifications in security required and Fire Safety (F-80) obtained within 3 months of hire.

Shift Supervisor/Operations Manager Principal Responsibilities:

• Supervise delivery of program services including intake, bed assignments, case management services, distribution of client mail, lockers, meal cards and medication
• Ensure optimal customer service is being provided to clients.
• Ensure recreation activities are occurring.
• Ensures the facility is adequately staffed at all times.
• Work with DHS PD to ensure the daily security and safety of the facility.
• Supervise facility maintenance, cleaning staff and fire safety
• Manage community relations and communicate with relevant authorities as needed.
• Perform related tasks as needed.
