Pay Range: $19.87 to $22.62 Hourly

FSQA Tech: $19.87 per hour

FSQA Tech-Swab: $22.62 per hour
What You'll Do

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

  • The role, reporting to Food Safety Analyst in the Value- Added Plants, works on microbiological and food safety related issues and partners with Production, Sanitation, and others in management. The position supports FSMA and the Food Safety Plan.



ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for execution of the Environmental Monitoring Program (EMP) Sampling including but not limited to documentation, sampling, and maintenance of associated software.
  • Responsible for communication of microbiological testing of in-process and final product materials.
  • Participates in activities related to commissioning of equipment.
  • Assists in execution of challenge studies and validation studies, including collaboration with external business partners.
  • Performs facility and GMP inspections to ensure best practices and sanitary principles are followed.
  • Encourages safe working practices.
  • Remains abreast of current science, regulatory principles, and emerging issues related to food safety.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by manager.
  • Employee must adhere to all policies, practices, and SOPs related to producing Safe Quality Food (SQF)
  • Ensure the integrity and continued operation of the food safety system in the event of organizational or personnel changes within the company or associated facilities.
  • Support special projects and other duties as assigned

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND LICENSES/CERTIFICATION:

  • HS Diploma or GED required.



REQUIRED SKILLS, CAPABILITIES, EXPERIENCE:

  • Previous experience in a food processing facility is desired but not required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Working knowledge of Food Technology, strong understanding of GMP's and Federal/ State food regulations.
  • Strong computer skills, data collection, and reporting.
  • Good verbal communication skills.
  • Hands-on ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented food processing environment.
  • Required to work independently, and with limited supervision.
  • Must be able to maintain regular and acceptable attendance, follow directions, interact well with other co-workers, and understand and follow posted work rules/ procedures.
  • Must be flexible with the ability to work any shift as workload demands.
  • Must have the ability to make decisions and accept constructive criticism.



SAFETY/GMP REQUIREMENTS:

  • Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) in accordance with company policy
  • Follow company safety rules, report workplace hazards or injuries immediately, and use required personal protective equipment (PPE).

WORK HOUR & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to work different shifts and overtime as needed or required by special assignments.
  • Some weekends are required.



PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be able to lift up to 10lbs. unassisted up to 1/3 of the workday, and 6lbs. overhead as jobs demand.
  • Constant standing on a concrete floor, reaching, bending, stooping, and repetitive hand movements may be required.
  • Moving machinery, including conveyor and forklifts are in operation within the immediate area.

  • Manufacturing Plant Floor.
  • Work is performed in a cool environment with an average temperature of 34 degrees F. Concentrated chlorine and concealed ammonia is present. Work surfaces and floors are wet. Employees are required to wear approved shoes and protective equipment.
