Position summary:

FALCATA is seeking an Assistant Facility Security Officer (Assistant FSO) to support the security program at our Huntsville, Alabama, facility. Working under the direction of the FSO, this person will help protect classified information, administer personnel-security processes, manage facility access controls, and maintain security records for our defense-contracting work.

The Assistant FSO will serve as a day-to-day resource for employees and managers and will work with the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) as directed by the FSO. The role supports compliance with the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM), codified at 32 CFR Part 117, and applicable contract-specific security requirements. The Assistant FSO title does not, by itself, designate the employee as the facility's appointed FSO.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the FSO in administering the facility's industrial security program, maintaining procedures and records, and preparing for DCSA reviews.
  • Coordinate personnel-security actions, including clearance processing, eligibility and access verification, security briefings, debriefings, visit requests, and required documentation.
  • Use authorized government security systems, including DISS and other systems applicable to the company's contracts, to maintain accurate personnel-security records.
  • Administer physical-access processes, including badges, visitor check-in, access permissions, access-control system records, and prompt removal of access when no longer authorized.
  • Help safeguard classified materials and areas by monitoring adherence to approved storage, handling, visitor-control, and access procedures.
  • Assist with security education, employee reporting, incident documentation, and insider-threat program activities.
  • Support security self-inspections, document findings, track corrective actions, and help prepare records requested during oversight activities.
  • Coordinate with the FSO, program teams, government security representatives, and DCSA on security questions and required actions.
  • Maintain organized, accurate, and appropriately protected security records while handling sensitive employee information with discretion.

Required qualifications:

  • At least three years of security experience encompassing facility security, access-control systems, personnel security, and direct experience working with DCSA.
  • Working knowledge of the NISPOM (32 CFR Part 117) and security practices in a cleared defense-contractor environment.
  • Experience processing or supporting personnel clearances and maintaining records in DISS.
  • Hands-on experience administering physical-access permissions, badges, visitors, or electronic access-control systems.
  • Ability to interpret security requirements, maintain detailed records, manage competing deadlines, and communicate clearly with employees and government stakeholders.
  • Ability to meet the position's stated clearance and on-site work requirements.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Prior experience as an Assistant FSO, FSO, or industrial security specialist.
  • Experience supporting DCSA security reviews and documenting self-inspection corrective actions.
  • Experience supporting multiple classified contracts or coordinating with customer security offices.
  • Completed FSO or industrial-security training relevant to assigned duties.
