As part of the Genomic Immunology Initiative, our laboratory is part of an exciting network of collaborators across UCSF and the Gladstone Institute working to advance our understanding of immune cell biology and the therapeutic applications of this knowledge. Thus, there are ample opportunities to engage with the broader community on joint projects to advance this common goal. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to ongoing work in these areas, with specific duties including CRISPR gene engineering, pooled genetic perturbation screens, T cell culture, mouse handling and tumor models, FACS analysis, and a variety of genomics techniques. This position represents an opportunity to be at the cutting edge of translational research in immunotherapy in a highly collaborative scientific environment. The specialist hired into this role will both assist with ongoing experiments and, depending on the candidate's skill level, conduct independent research under the guidance of Dr. Carnevale and other members of the Lab. The Specialist will learn and utilize a variety of research techniques and have the opportunity to present their work and co-author publications. Depending on performance and workload, opportunities for independent research, mentorship of other trainees, and scientific writing will be available.
