Position Summary:
Reporting to the Vice President Health IT with a dotted line to the Johns Hopkins Care at Home President, the Executive Director IT - Johns Hopkins Care at Home serves as the Senior IT Leader for Johns Hopkins Care at Home and will work closely with local business, clinical, and/or academic leadership to support, develop, and implement strategic plans that support the overall goals of the organization, in alignment with the Johns Hopkins University and Health System Office of Information Technology. This role will be responsible for leading IT strategy, plans for IT infrastructure, and overseeing IT support. The Executive Director IT leads as the primary contact for all IT for JHCH, with both direct and indirect support of the IT infrastructure, and will directly manage a local team to support implementation of new technologies as well as ongoing support for all local IT. In coordination with area specific central IT leaders, this role has matrixed responsibility for all local IT including desktop and mobile support, networking, and telephony. The position will partner with central IT leadership to ensure high quality, reliable service. Leads large scale, complex projects requiring multi-disciplinary coordination and significant operational, clinical and IT collaboration. Responsibilities Include:
- As a member of the Johns Hopkins Care at Home leadership team, contributes or leads strategic and tactical planning to achieve organizational goals by prioritizing initiatives and coordinating the evaluation, deployment, and management of current and future technologies.
- Communicates and advocates for entity specific needs across central IT as well as communicates central IT initiatives and priorities across entity. Plays a key role in enterprise IT efforts including sharing best practices, evaluating new technologies, leading enterprise-wide projects that require implementation per entity and taking ownership for enterprise-wide systems.
- Responsible for overseeing the development, maintenance, and execution of IT resiliency and downtime plans for the region; responsible for overseeing the implementation of downtime drills and associated corrective action plans. Will serve as regional lead during IT downtime events.
- Develop technology solutions to anticipate the organization's needs, be cost-effective, reliable and compatible with existing and emerging technologies.
- Anticipate change and be agile to respond when technology requirements emerge and evolve.
- Based on understanding of organizational goals, mission, and culture, assess the impact and effectiveness of technology to ensure it supports the organization's needs.
- Balances available personnel and funding resources in support of meeting both operational and strategic imperatives. Recognizes situations that present themselves and acts with leadership to address significant issues.
- Works with constituents in conjunction with other IT leaders to interpret customer business needs and makes recommendations for strategic investments in technology, applications, business process, personnel, etc. that meets the agreed upon goals of the organization. Serves as the entity liaison to IT@JH and clinical applications.
- Provides guidance for the development of technology related policies and procedures and represents IT on business-driven policy committees within and outside of Hopkins.
- Ensures that applicable Hopkins policies, practices, regulatory requirements are addressed and followed within his/her area of responsibility.
- Represents JH Care at Home, often with delegated authority, in meetings both within and outside of Hopkins.
- Represents the interest of the organization at industry, state and federal meetings to ensure that the best interests are considered.
- Manage the customer relationship and satisfaction as well as adherence to the contractual obligations.
- Create and promote a culture of excellent customer service.
- Facilitate and influence organizational strategic initiatives to achieve mission and organizational goals.
- Maintains relationships with strategic technology vendors for the organization.
- Has direct responsibility for the design, development, and application of a portfolio of Johns Hopkins Care at Home applications as well as partnered responsibility for technical solutions that satisfy customer needs and are essential to the ongoing operations of the organization.
- Ensure continuous delivery of information technology support and services through direct management of service level agreements.
- Oversees the development and monitoring of IT budgets across the NCR. Manages current and projected capital and operating budgets, to include initiating corrective action(s) when substandard financial performance occurs.
- Provides input to, and is has responsibility for, ongoing operations, budgets, a multi-year budget forecast and both strategic and operational planning.
- Ensures maximization of efforts around cost control through continuous evaluation of resource allocation(s); achieves, or exceeds, hospital financial plans
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in information technology, business or related field. An advanced degree is preferred.
- Ten + years of progressive experience in information technology or related field required, including 7 years of management experience with significant business impact required, with proven experience leading large-scale, complex projects to support the organizational strategic plan desired.
Knowledge:
- Knowledge and ability to manage and operate extremely large-scale (greater than 100,000 customers) technology infrastructures and execute strategic planning objectives
- Advanced, conceptual knowledge of technologies within all areas of JHM organization.
- Strategic business acumen and understanding of organization strategy, with an ability to design information systems to fulfill that strategy.
- Knowledge of current systems analysis and design methodologies, as well as IT and healthcare operations.
- Experienced in assessing a broad range of information solutions and products
- Demonstrated knowledge of leadership, conflict resolution and change management principles.
Skills:
- Ability to establish strategic direction and commit to long-range goals and short-term initiatives
- Advanced leadership, negotiation and conflict resolution skills needed to manage and motivate staff and resources consistent with organization goals, and group processes
- Demonstrated exemplary customer service skills and ability to think strategically
- Excellent interpersonal skill, written and oral communication and listening skills necessary to interface with various levels of management, including senior leadership and high-level external contacts
- Ability to work at a fast pace, prioritize multiple activities and respond in a timely manner to numerous requests in a complex, highly collaborative environment.
- Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information and situations.
- Act and speak professionally in formal and impromptu situations with the ability to represent Hopkins on State, Federal and industry panels
Salary Range: Minimum $208,833.00 annually - Maximum $232,172.00 annually. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
