Location: Deploying to the Marshall Islands

Job Summary:

This setting may require the General Surgeon to coordinate with local hospitals to determine local capabilities, coordinate admission, monitor and arrange final disposition. In addition, this setting may require stabilization of patients and coordination of evacuation of patients to medevac center or CONUS. The General Surgeon will provide preoperative, operative, and post-operative management of patient care. General Surgeons provide a U.S. standard of care for our patient care/treatment model.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • All Health Care Providers (HCPs) will document care delivered and follow up care required.
  • Attends and participates in a variety of meetings and task force groups to improve quality and outcomes, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems and maintain specific level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, new task efforts, and new policy requirements.
  • Maintain the highest regard for patient dignity and observe the precepts of the American Hospital Associations Bill of Rights for patients.
  • Participate and advise in Mass Casualty Exercises/Events.
  • Assists with the managing of day-to-day activities and prioritizing tasks.
  • Operates personal computer to access e-mail, electronic calendars, and other basic office support software.
  • Complies with all applicable Acuity standards and guidelines.
  • Attends and participates in a variety of meetings and task force groups to improve quality and outcomes, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems and maintain specific level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, new task efforts, and new policy requirements.
  • Performs duties in a safe manner and follows the corporate safety policy.
  • Participates in and supports safety meetings, training, and goals.
  • Ensures safe operating conditions within area of responsibility.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly work area.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience.
  • All health care providers and medical support staff must have recent clinical experience in patient care for at least 6 months out of the past year.
  • Must have completed General Surgery Residency within the United States or Western country equivalent.
  • U.S. or Canadian Board Certified.
  • Hold and maintain a current unrestricted U.S. (State) license.
  • Have and maintain current certification:
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
    • Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS)
    • Basic Life Support(BLS) or Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
  • Must be current in all required certifications.
  • Participate in training, (including HIPAA training).
  • Shall demonstrate proficiency in the use of basic word processing programs.
  • Must have a valid, current U.S. Driver's License.
  • Must have a valid U.S. Passport with no less than 6 months remaining before expiration.
  • Requires a favorable security background check and drug screen.
  • Requires a favorably adjudicated CNACI investigation conducted by the Department of Defense.
  • Shall be proficient in the ability to speak, write and communicate in English.
  • Must sign an International Assignment Agreement (IAA) and is bound to the terms and conditions of the IAA.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Recent completion of Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) or comparable advanced trauma course featuring "live tissue" or exceptional simulation training is desirable.
  • Completion of a trauma fellowship will merit particular consideration.

Physical Requirements and Work Conditions:

  • Must be confirmed by a medical examination to be "medically and dentally fit" in accordance with Acuity Medical Readiness Guidelines and Policies and/or as directed by the Client.
  • Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.
  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment; travel to Kwajalein is required by air.
