Investment Banking, Corporate Derivatives Underwriting - [Analyst / Associate]

The Corporate Derivatives Underwriting team is responsible for managing the underwriting and risk approval of interest rate, foreign exchange, and credit derivative trades being proposed to and executed by clients of the Investment Banking Division. Client types include, but are not limited to, corporates, financial sponsors, and municipalities. Typical client activity relates to managing risk on the back of M&A, financing and / or other strategic initiatives, along with day-to-day exposures.

Members of the Corporate Derivatives Underwriting team work closely with:



  • Corporate Derivatives Sales
  • Credit Risk
  • Derivatives Contract Negotiators
  • Legal



HOW YOU WILL FULFILL YOUR POTENTIAL

The [Analyst / Associate] will work as an integral member of the team on the underwriting and risk approval of derivative trades and counterparty credit limits. You will be expected to underwrite a distinct portfolio of counterparties, each with differing credit profiles and trading terms. The position requires proactivity and excellence to meet a variety of approval timelines. The [Analyst/Associate] will liaise with Sales on pricing and risk models, assess and confirm key contractual terms with Legal and the Derivative Contract Negotiation team, research and summarize a counterparty's key financial highlights, and prepare in-depth credit analyses. The [Analyst /Associate] will need to be detail-oriented and have good interpersonal skills.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES WE ARE LOOKING FOR



  • Enthusiasm for capital markets, specifically derivatives (e.g., options, interest rate swaps, etc.)
  • Preferred undergraduate degree in Economics / Finance / Accounting / Mathematics or a related discipline
  • 1-3 years financial services background with preference for derivatives knowledge
  • Highly motivated and adaptable with ability to respond creatively and quickly in a fast-paced, high-pressure, changing environment
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and competing work streams
  • Demonstrated technical proficiency: experience analyzing data and summarizing results to produce succinct high-impact presentations
  • A team player
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Accurate and detail-oriented with sound judgment and integrity
