Currently recruiting an Anesthesiologist in Fort Bliss, El Paso, Texas to provide care to Active Duty heroes, their families, and retirees at William Beaumont Army Medical Center (WBAMC). Schedule will not exceed 80 hours within a 2-week pay period. Services will be required on Federal holidays.
DUTIES OF THE PHYSICIAN - ANESTHESIOLOGIST:
- Provide routine and emergent anesthesia care for neonatal through geriatric patients with American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) classifications I-VI.
- Perform routine preoperative evaluations on patients and provide contemporary regional and general anesthesia care for the following subspecialties: general surgery, obstetrics, gynecology, cardiothoracic, vascular, adult dentistry, pediatric dentistry, otolaryngology, neurosurgery, urology, ophthalmology, oral surgery, orthopedics, plastic surgery, podiatry, and dermatology.
- Assist/ the administration of anesthesia by nurse anesthetists;administer anesthesia to patients whose condition poses a particular anesthetic difficulty. Administer appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic nerve blocks in the treatment of acute and chronic pain.
- Assist/ the activities of the recovery room and administer appropriate drug and respiratory therapy in the recovery room setting. Implement the proper use of mechanical ventilators in the recovery room, and as necessary, in the intensive care units.
- Provide consultation regarding preoperative preparation, intra and postoperative anesthetic management, and treatment of chronic pain patients. Perform administrative duties as required to include completion of all required reports, records, and quality assurance reviews.
- Participate in designated Anesthesia Service training activities to include in-services. Participate in other catastrophic problems where the skill of an anesthesiologist is applicable, e.G., drug overdoses, cardiac arrests, respiratory problems, or trauma admissions.
- Support the facility s medical teaching program by actively providing assistance to student nurse anesthetists, residents, and/or medical students assigned to or rotating through the department where the provider is performing contracted services. Perform all duties in such a manner that they meet all Joint Commission standards.
- Maintain all command-directed and/or TJC mandated training requirements. Document medical care in accordance with local MTF policyand the standards established by the American Society of Anesthesiologists.
QUALIFICATIONS OF THE PHYSICIAN - ANESTHESIOLOGIST:
***MUST HAVE AN ACTIVE MEDICAL LICENSE FROM TEXAS***
- Shall hold a Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree from an accredited graduate school of Medicine. Physician must be Board eligible, or Board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology. If Board eligible, must obtain board certification within 365 of employment.
- Contract provider shall possess a current unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Texas (10 USC 1094).
- A current, unrestricted Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration/Certificate as appropriate.
- Meet all licensing/certification requirements to perform as an Anesthesiologist.
- Must be able to obtain clinical privileges to practice medicine with the MTF Credentials Committee.
- Experience. Possess a minimum of one year of experience actively practicing as a full-time Board Eligible or Board Certified Physician certified by the American board of Anesthesiology during the last year which enables him/her to perform the specific tasks listed for their specialty.
- Life Support Certification Requirements. Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification is required by all providers. Certified in ACLS prior to beginning contract services under this contract. Pediatric Advanced Cardiac Life Support (PALS).
- Foreign medical graduate physicians shall possess a valid certificate from the Educational Council for Foreign Medical Graduates.
- Possess and maintain at all times, at Contractor expense, current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS). BLS is not the same as cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training. The American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers is the only program accepted.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen (for access to Government computer systems)
