A Brief Overview

Performs light maintenance service under the guidance of a qualified skilled tradespersons, including plumbing, carpentry, painting and plastering, machine servicing, electrical repairs and installations.

What You Will Do



  • Performs tasks not limited to changing light bulbs, replacing ceiling tiles, installing paper dispenser units, changing filters, changing locks on doors, minor decorative maintenance and other tasks not requiring a licensed skilled trades person or journeyman.
  • Performs light maintenance service under the guidance of a qualified skilled tradespersons, including plumbing, carpentry, painting and plastering, machine servicing, electrical repairs and installations.
  • Identifies and corrects unsafe working conditions with management oversight; remains knowledgeable in all OSHA and local requirements related to all assigned work; inspects completed work to ensure compliance with engineering specifications and local building code(s).
  • Complies with all company safety and risk management policies and procedures which includes reporting all accidents and injuries in a timely manner and performing all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
  • Participates in regular safety meetings, safety training and hazard assessments and/or all training programs (classroom and virtual) as designated.
  • Assists skilled trade workers in one or more areas performing specific or standard duties to learn new skills as required for advancement and certification.
  • Initiates/documents all work in CMMS system; work orders are both reactive and preventative.
  • Maintains grounds for hospital employees and visitors safety.
  • Ensures work is performed in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Shift times may vary based on hospital demands and emergencies.


Additional Responsibilities



  • May be required to inventory equipment, parts and supplies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.

  • Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
