Peer Tutor
Position Overview: Peer Tutors provide tutoring to individual students and groups of students in person and virtually. Peer Tutors assist students in improving academic performance through study skill development and/or subject-specific tutoring. Peer Tutors model techniques, strategies, attitudes, and beliefs contributing to student success.
Essential Duties:
- Tutor students in a specific discipline and/or general study skills, organization, and time management. Peer Tutors support students through individual or group-based tutoring sessions, both in person and online.
- Show up to scheduled shift/session on time and provide updated availability information. Respond to emails and tutor requests within 24 hours and develop a tutoring schedule with clients.
- Work cooperatively with students, other tutoring staff, and faculty.
- Complete required training and maintain accurate records of hours and services provided.
- Other duties as assigned.
Work Experience:
- Required or preferred work experience based on job requirements and consistent with business needs is indicated below:
- Expertise in a specific academic subject discipline and/or skill.
- Passionate about helping others learn and an appreciation for different learning styles and abilities.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, excellent listening skills, reliable, professional, responsible, resourceful, and able to "meet students where they're at."
- Positive and supportive nature.
