Job Description

The University Data, Analytics, and Institutional Research (UDAIR) team is looking for a new leader of Institutional Research (IR). Reporting directly to the MU Vice-Provost of Data Analytics and UM System Chief data Officer, the new UM System / MU Campus Director of Institutional Research will be responsible for IR at our MU flagship campus and coordination of UM System 4-campus compliance and leadership reporting. Primary responsibilities include leadership of our flagship Mizzou Campus IR including external reporting; surveys & assessment; and support of the Provost office including accreditation, faculty affairs and academic programs. In this capacity, this leader will be a point partner for the Provost and Vice-Provosts of academic and faculty programs. Additionally, this position will lead our system-level IR including compliance and 4-campus reporting and Analytics as well as Faculty & Academic Affairs Information Systems. In their system capacity, this person will coordinate with IR leaders at all four campuses and serve as the leadership liaison for IR, data, and assessment for the President, Academic Affairs, and the Board of Curators.

  • Provide Institutional Research Leadership and Oversight: Represent Institutional Research with the University Data, Analytics, and Institutional Research (UDAIR) leadership team. Provide leadership and guidance on best practices for official institutional data collection, reporting, and analysis along a broad range of domains and systems that contribute to institutional success and represent development and implementation of strategic IR initiatives to strategic leadership
  • Accountable for 4-campus internal and external compliance reporting: Lead and actively participate in the collection, analysis, review, and timely accurate submission of institutional data requested by regional and specialized accreditors, Federal and State agencies, external surveys, and other applicable oversight agencies
  • Develop and Foster relationships: Develop good working relationships with stakeholders in IT, IR, and UDAIR, including MU Analytics, to deliver shared value.
  • Information Systems: Lead coordination for 4-Campus Faculty Accomplishment System. Lead Process improvement efforts to support UM Academic Affairs and MU academic and faculty processes
  • Empower Business Users: Design, develop and maintain institutional and public dashboards to disseminate critical and timely information and trends based on internal and external data. Must be experienced in data modelling and advanced statistical methods to guide analysis and generate actionable analysis
  • Agile Analysis: Sponsor and prioritize response to routine and ad hoc requests for data and information from institutional and System executive leadership, faculty, and staff as well as requests from commercial and other external entities.
  • Build the Data Foundation: Operate as data trustee representative to governance committee for compliance and external reporting. Lead efforts to develop high-quality 4-campus datasets as prioritized by leadership needs
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve and formalize processes for efficiency gain and institutional value. Work with stakeholders and other subject matter experts to develop and provide actionable information and in support of improvement initiatives.
  • Leadership and Mentorship: Supervise and mentor staff within the department and distributed/embedded analysts across the institution. Provide technical expertise to assist faculty, staff, and other parties.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Shift

Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Minimum Qualifications

A Master's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience and at least 7 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

5-10 years of progressive leadership experience in Higher Education. Experience at an R1 institution preferred. Experience in Institutional Research; external reporting (including compliance reporting) preferred. Experience with data analytics, data management, system thinking and process improvement preferred.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $120,000 - $197,000 Annually

Grade: GGS-014
