SUMMARY

  • Reporting to Sr Vice President & Chief Human Resources Officer, the Employee Relations Specialist will conduct investigations which include interviewing witnesses and gathering pertinent details for each assigned case. The Employee Relations Specialist will partner with the HR Operations Consultants to determine next steps for each case.



SCOPE AND COMPLEXITY


  • Information normally available when solving problems and making decisions in the position can be incomplete and additional information is often difficult to find; determining and gathering appropriate information may require research. Work is guided by broad operating policies and guidelines pertaining to the department, and approved plans, normally subject to managerial direction, progress review and evaluation of achievement objectives. Decisions could positively or negatively affect a large group of users, entire department, or networked systems.



JOB SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS


  1. Conduct investigations into employee complaints of harassment, discrimination, or other misconduct.
  2. Coordinate meetings with the Sr. HR Operations Consultant to discuss the details and progress of each case.
  3. Maintain records of employee investigations and resolutions
  4. Investigate and resolve employee concerns and issues in a timely and efficient manner.
  5. Ensure compliance of the organization s policies and procedures.


The skills and qualifications needed for the role of Employee Relations Specialist vary depending on the organization. However, most organizations will require a bachelor's degree in human resources or a related field, and several years of experience working in human resources or employee relations. Additionally, strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential for this position, as is the ability to effectively manage conflict.
