Water Resources Intern - Summer 2025

ABOUT THE POSITION

VHB's Providence, RI office is looking for a Water Resources Intern to join our team for the Summer of 2025. This team focuses on stormwater management, floodplain management, watershed/water quality, and hydrodynamic modeling services. We work with transportation, municipal, energy, and real estate clients.

Responsibilities

Work within a team of professionals in developing site civil engineering plans and specifications for a multitude of environmental, land development, transportation, and water resources projects
• Conduct a wide array of water resources related studies and analysis including: Hydrologic and hydraulic analysis of stormwater systems, analysis and design of conveyance systems, design of stormwater management facilities, coastal impacts, and floodplain analysis
• Conduct data collection and field work
• Analysis of impaired watersheds and identification of potential areas for stormwater treatment
• Support projects related to stormwater permitting compliance for municipal, industrial and transportation clients

Skills and Abilities

• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Team oriented with strong capability to work independently
• Self-motivated with attention to detail
• A strong work ethic with the desire to learn and achieve
• Knowledge of drawing and mapping tools such as AutoCAD and GIS
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in environmental/civil engineering, or a related field
