The Nevada Automotive Test Center (NATC) is currently seeking talented candidates for a Tire Technician at our Silver Springs, NV location. At NATC, the tire technician will support engineers who design, manufacture, and test innovative automotive mobility solutions.

Founded in 1957, the Nevada Automotive Test Center (NATC) is a privately owned, independent test, evaluation, design and engineering facility offering development and testing to customers worldwide.

NATC's location in the great basin of Nevada allows our team to access terrain that can represent 85% of the world within a 150-mile radius, providing an excellent test bed for off-road mobility. NATC's operational area includes 1200 sq. miles of natural terrain, that when coupled with 6,200 acres of privately owned test courses, create an unparalleled testing area available to our engineers to innovate and solve our customer's problems. NATC has completed thousands of test programs as a one-stop shop for automotive development.

Position Summary:

The Tire Technician works under the direct supervision of the Program Manager or Test Engineer, and is responsible for the dismounting, mounting, repairing and balancing of tires on both fleet and test vehicles ranging from passenger car to class 8 truck and military. These duties are often performed in a shop but in many instances these duties will be done in the field.

Essential Functions:



  1. Properly secure vehicle on lift or jack and jack-stands to ensure safe operation.
  2. Properly dismount and remount tires and wheels securely on vehicle with proper procedures and torques.
  3. Properly dismount and remount tires onto wheels without damage.
  4. Operate and maintain all related equipment and tools as trained.
  5. Operate independently and as a team member.
  6. Maintain inventory control of tires and wheels.
  7. Maintain electronic and paper records and documents.
  8. Keeps shop and workspace clean and presentable.
  9. Supports safety and periodic customer audits.
  10. Supports test technicians and test engineers with tire measurements or other testing related tasks, as needed.
  11. Provides support to and coordinates assigned activities with technicians, other engineers, and the program manager.
  12. Relates well with employees and customers at all levels and at all times in a professional and personable manner.
  13. Other duties as assigned.



Marginal Functions:



  1. May be required to perform the duties as a test vehicle operator.
  2. Assists in special projects.



Pay:

$19.00-$21.00



Position Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Able to work 40 hours per week.
  2. Currently possess or be able to obtain and maintain a current Nevada Driver's License and a good driving record.
  3. Possess basic computer skills and the ability to proficiently use Microsoft Word and Excel.
  4. Able to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  5. Excellent organization and time management skills.
  6. Flexible and able to handle multiple priorities, with the ability to adjust to high pressure and rapidly changing business conditions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience in mounting, remounting, and balancing tires in a shop environment and out in the field.
  2. Two years of experience in the automotive field.

Physical Requirements:

  1. Physically demanding position to include continuous lifting of tires ranging from passenger vehicles to very large military tires.
  2. Must be able to lift 75 pounds.
