Responsibilities

Summary

The Clinical Supervisor provides clinical and administrative supervision to all Counselors within the Region IV Facility (in Baltimore, Maryland). The position serves as an additional layer of oversight to ensure contract compliance and adherence of all programming and services to industry best practices and standards and contractual obligations.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • The Clinical Supervisor is responsible for the overall administrative and clinical supervision of all counselors and the day-to-day delivery of substance use treatment services.
  • Assists in the interview and hiring process for counselors. May also assist in recruiting subordinate staff to include interviewing, hiring, assigning work, training, coaching, and counseling to ensure consistent application of employee guidelines, processes, and procedures.
  • The Clinical Supervisor is responsible for the observation and evaluation of substance use treatment groups and responsible for the observation of individual counseling sessions.
  • Responsible for completing Annual Performance Evaluations with all counselors (including working toward the professional development of counselors
  • Responsible for reviewing, editing, and signing all clinical documentation; and ensuring the submission of daily productivity documentation.
  • The Clinical Supervisor assists QA & Training Manager in developing, organizing, and conducting programs to provide education for conditions and problems related to drug and alcohol abuse; reviews and selects new instructional materials and programs for use in substance abuse program; provides reports and presentations on substance abuse.
  • Responsible for coverage, in the absence of a counselor. No fixed caseload is required in this position. May conduct or assist in conducting Screenings, Assessments, Individual Counseling, and/or Group Counseling (if/as needed but having no fixed caseload).
  • The Clinical Supervisor monitors participant compliance with alcohol and/or drug counseling when required. Updates QA & Training Manager and/or Program Clinical Director regarding challenges with participant compliance.
  • Observes and oversees adherence to all policies and procedures; monitors violations and administers disciplinary action (in partnership with the Program Clinical Director and Human Resources Manager).
  • Maintains counselor schedules including approval of time off. Provide updates to the Human Resources Manager and Clinical Director as needed.
  • Works collaboratively with contracting agencies and facility staff Remains knowledgeable in the programmatic process and be able to define and identify program methodology, counseling modalities, program design needs, the various facets of the program, and the principles and techniques of individual counseling and small and large group counseling.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • A Bachelor's Degree or above from an accredited college with a major in chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, or closely related social service major (with a clinical specialty in administration or the human services) or other related field.
  • Must be credentialed through the Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists to provide supervision to counselors who have any of the following credentials: ADT, CSC-AD, CAC-AD.
  • Must have 1-2 years of supervisory experience (within the substance-use disorder field).
  • Have working knowledge of cognitive behavioral therapy programs; and
    • Proven experience in supervising a substance abuse program.
  • Preference given to experience within a correctional setting.
  • Licensed as an LCADC, LCSW-C and/or LCPC preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish, preferred.
  • Ability to interact in a professional manner in both individual and group counseling settings.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with a team of professionals and have the ability to implement team strategy approaches to work assignments.
  • Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
