Primary Purpose: Position will be filled on a Structural Engineering team. Develops and implements utility system capital improvement projects, such as design and construction of substations, overhead or underground electric transmission or distribution systems, or gas transmission and distribution systems. Duties may include renovation of, and maintenance planning for existing facilities. Work includes participation with multidisciplinary project teams in planning, preliminary concept development, and detailed engineering design and bidding stages. Conducts preliminary surveys and prepares schematics and work drawings for the construction and maintenance of utility structures and facilities. Examines and approves engineering drawings and design calculations for utility structures and facilities to ensure compliance with sound engineering practices and applicable codes and standards; incorporates functional requirements into project designs. Writes scopes of work for consultant engineering contracts. Estimates cost of projects; writes contract scopes and specifications for lump sum or T&E construction projects; secures bids from contractors. Conducts periodic inspections of work in progress and advises construction supervisors and contractors on plans and specifications. Inspects existing utility structures and prepares reports on the condition, deficiencies observed, designs necessary for repairs and estimated cost of repairs. Reviews invoices for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with contracts; approves invoices for payment. Duties and Responsibilities:

The target for this position is an award of 15% of base salary and is based on individual and company performance for the plan year.
