Student Assistant - Center for Hmong Studies
Position Overview: The Center for Hmong Studies at Concordia University, St. Paul is seeking a student employee to work at least 10 hours a week, to process, catalog, and digitize documents, photos, and artifacts. Flexible working hours are within the business hours of Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm.
Essential Duties:
- Use proper archival preservation techniques to house and store assets
- Assist with research requests
- Assist with curation of exhibits and displays upon demand
- Digitization of collections (photos, documents, artifacts)
- Provide access, use and evaluations of archival resources for individuals
- Use museum and archival best practices for handling, storing, and preserving assets
- Maintain confidentiality as well as follow Center's policies
Additional Qualifications: Strong research skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and ask questions. Ability to maintain focus while working on several projects at once. Strong verbal, written, organizational, time management and interpersonal communication skills; Experience working with copiers, scanners, digital media such as CDs, online catalogs, as well as computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel; Experience handling and processing archival materials; Experience with digital preservation.
