Florida International University (FIU), located in Miami, FL, invites applicants for multiple tenure or tenure track faculty positions in minority health/health disparities/health equity research, to be hired at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level. We invite investigators with track records of extramural funding (e.g., NIH, CDC, and/or NSF), conducting research with underserved and underrepresented populations including racial and ethnic minorities, rural populations, people with disabilities, and sexual and gender minorities. Applicants should have experience in mentorship and training of graduate students and/or early career investigators, transdisciplinary collaboration, community partnership and engagement, and research dissemination. Investigators across all areas of health disparities research will be considered.

This hiring initiative is part of FIUs NIMHD-funded Research Center in a Minority Institution Program. Home department appointments will be made based on candidates areas of expertise and specialization. FIU is committed to supporting and expanding health disparities/health equity research, scholarship, and mentorship at the University.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities for this faculty position may include but are not limited to collaborative and applied research with FIU-RCMI faculty and trainees conducting health disparities research (including assistance with grant applications and data analysis on funded grants); and methodological research leading to peer-reviewed publications and grant funding, teaching graduate courses, and supervising of graduate and post-doctoral trainees.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants should hold a PhD or MD and expertise in public health or a social science discipline. Applicants should demonstrate a commitment to and excellence in interdisciplinary teaching and research. Applicants should demonstrate skills in program building to facilitate scholarly exchange and research collaboration. An active program of scholarship and publication on health disparities and minority health is essential. For more senior scholars, a record of accomplishment in large-scale extramural-funded research is important; for more junior scholars, clear potential and prospects for securing extramural funding are important. The salary for this position is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
