Position Summary

Description:

As a
nationally accredited program with strong educational component in The
University of New Mexico School of Medicine, the Office of the Medical
Investigator (OMI) investigates any death occurring across the state of New
Mexico that is sudden, violent, untimely, unexpected or where a person is
found dead and the cause of death is unknown. The OMI, which is a special
program within the Department of Pathology, determines the cause and manner
of death in these cases, and provides formal death certification.

OMI is
currently looking for an Admin Assistant 3 to join our team. Our ideal
candidate will be a team player and willing to learn. The candidate will
assist with obtaining cremation permits, death certificates and fielding a
heavy call volume from law enforcement and decedent families. Our ideal
candidate will have a strong work ethic and be able to follow complex
instruction. The position also requires data entry and a high degree of
attention to detail.

Please
note: this position may include hours on the weekend and/or during holidays.
We are a 7 day a week operating organization. This position will work 2nd
shift.

Conditions of Employment
  • If this position is assigned to the Athletics Department, either administratively or functionally, compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations is required.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

-Records maintenance skills. -Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications.

-Ability to supervise and train assigned staff.

-Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.

-Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.

-Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments.

-Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials.
