Position Profile: The Staff Accountant partners with the plant leadership team to support the achievement of financial and operational goals of the Schulenburg, TX manufacturing facility. The Staff Accountant assists the Site Controller each month in closing the books in an accurate and timely manner, prepares DFA and customer required financial reports, and provides support for other financial aspects of plant operations, as assigned.
- Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with month end closing for the Schulenburg facility including (but not limited to) preparation of journal entries, analysis of general ledger balances and activity, & researching transactional postings.
- Assist in the preparation and distribution of monthly internal financial reports, customer required financial reports, and balance sheet account analysis, as assigned, in an accurate and timely manner.
- Assist the Site Controller with preparation of the annual budget and monthly forecast for both DFA and the customer, as assigned.
- Assist the Site Controller with annual blind-tagged inventory physical count.
- Prepare and distribute weekly phase (cost of non-conformance) reports, inventory reports, production reports, and other assigned plant reports.
- Maintain accounting information for vendor notifications and work with P&I Inventory Specialists to capture any credit due from the vendor or freight company that may have resulted in vendor's non- compliance or quality of product received.
- This position is responsible for processing non-PO vouchers.
- This position is responsible for identifying the impact of daily events on the Key Performance Indicator calculations and keeping management staff educated and informed on an as needed, weekly, and monthly basis.
- Exercise fiduciary duties to safeguard DFA assets and ensure compliance with DFA policies and procedures related to disciplines of Accounting and Finance.

- This position works closely with the plant leadership team as well with Divisional accounting and operational teams.

Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or relevant discipline
- 0-3 years of accounting experience, preferably in cost accounting or a manufacturing environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficient use of Excel
- SAP (or other integrated ERP) system experience preferred
- Additional certifications a plus (CPA, CMA, MBA)
- Prior experience in a food manufacturing environment preferred
Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of general accepted accounting principles (GAAP) related to accounting and financial reporting
- Knowledge of business theory, business processes, and management
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Skill in critical thinking, analysis, mathematical calculations, and problem solving
